Samsung SyncMaster 192N

What do you think about the Samsung SyncMaster 192N monitor ? I've seen it in the store and it looks pretty good to me. Does anyone have any bad experiences with it ? It's going to be used for Windows XP and Linux. The price seems right to me and I think it will satisfy my needs. Would you buy it ?

Go for a model with a DVI input. Much sharper.

bhutocracy 11-09-2003 04:09 PM

im using the 191N and it's great, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 192N...

LCDs are pretty much only worth it if you have DVI, consider it

And Samsungs are among the best and most popular LCDs on the market, they're also re-branded by several companies, one that comes to mind is Dell

KRL 11-09-2003 06:22 PM

The analog / DVI choice no longer makes a difference with the latest models. I have one on a digital connect and one on analog and they both look perfect.

Best Buy offers the best guarantee I've seen for LCD monitors.. 1 pixel goes bad and they'll replace it.

Most warranties are for 7 or 9 pixels.

Here's some good info on DVI if you are confused by what is what: http://www.directron.com/dviguide.html

NewEgg.com has 19" Samsungs for about $630.

Is there any similarity between laptop lcd and deskop?
I had an Compaq EVO laptop for a while and man colors were scrwed, and you could see compression artifacts in the graphics and images

Samsung has been top of the line for years in all their monitors. So it would be hard to go wrong with any of their merchandise. We have a 14" analog on a backup system that still looks as good as the day it was brought home (1992). And its been moved in a car more than once, banged, bumped and the cat has run head first in to the screen. Still perfect!

I wouldn't expect anything less from their LCD's.

I've had my 191T for over a year... AWESOME monitor.

:thumbsup Yup good company i have done about a dozen orders thru them. Always fast .

Once they sent a dud cpu and had it replaced before i even sent the old one back :)

Generally though because of the size & possibility of breakage, i recommend buying a monitor locally. You end up waiting longer if they have to order it , but if anything goes wrong its much easier to deal with a local company than a company far away.

It all depends on where you live. i.e. (hicktown usa)

Regret not getting the 19 though.. :(

I have this 18.1" Sony LCD flatscreen.

If you look around, you can get it for as cheap as $500.

hello

i do have a SyncMaster 171 N and it's a great monitor, i don't think that the fact that it doesn't have the DVI input is an issue for example, and the model you're willing to buy should be as good as this one i have.

just a thing, i had a dead pixel, and the fuckers were saying that i should have at least 3-4 in order to have it replaced, but thanks to the fact that my mom is a lawyer we sent Samsung Italy a nice letter, and magically after 10 days i had a new monitor, even tho the first one they sent me as replacement wasn't perfect either so i sent that one back again, and then after 3 days i got a 2nd new monitor that finally was PERFECT.

so all i want to say, sure go for Samsung, but i wouldn't buy a flat LCD monitor online because you cannot try it, so i would go to a shop in your city if possible and have them try it in front of you and carefully check every angle - prolly online you can get a better price, but who pays you the stress of calling customer support bla bla bla?

think about it!
