"[11:04] Amputate Your Head: dude, that fucking hunk of shit drive box I got, I don't know what to do with it..... if I send it back the fuckers are gonna gouge me for 25% right off the top.... I get fucked on all the shipping fees.... plus I don't have their original box or the plastic bags the cables and shit came in so they'll fuck me because of that too..... I think I'm gonna end up eating this whole thing [11:05] Amputate Your Head: and of course, there's no way to talk to anyone there on the phone about it [11:05] Amputate Your Head: fucking bastards [11:06] Amputate Your Head: wanna buy a drive enclosure? [11:08] AaronM: I would love to have a nice working setup liks that but my experiences in external firewire enclosures is not good. That's why I switched to the pull out drives. [11:10] Amputate Your Head: it actually probably works fine if I would have hooked it up like I should have, using the 1394b 800 cables from each bridgeboard.... but I don't have the 1394b adapter in the box... I have the 1394a... the 6 pin.... so I daisy chained the bridgeboards together and ran one 1394a cable to the box.... and I think that's where she broke down. Worked fine with four drives, but when I bumped up to 8 drives, it all collapsed. I bet if I got a 1394b adapter it'd work fine.... [11:13] AaronM: Don't forget to install flapjacks too. [11:14] Amputate Your Head: that's why I lost all the data on three drives.... I didn't have Flapjacks runing in the background to shield them [11:15] AaronM: Ya know...I expect this kind of shit from the idiot newbies but not from you. How many threads have we had on GFY warning people of this? You done fucked up bro. [11:16] Amputate Your Head: well, it probably wouldn't have helped anyway... all I have is a 30 day trial beta version of the new flapjacks xp [11:17] Amputate Your Head: it's a hot new version man... lets you run waffler scans and everything [11:17] AaronM: I was on the Beta team and can get you the full version for a fraction of the cost if you like." http://www.ampiezza.com/stuff/meltdown.jpg |

The hubby files things by inches... he asks what month was that? And use a ruler to measure the piles so he knows how far to reach down in. lol Usually there's only 3 months worth since he likes to file things neatly WHEN he gets around to it. There are 4 power supplies sitting by this tower, one of which has the cables going inside the case. :D I know there IS a power base under this monitor although I haven't seen it since 1998. Although one corner is clear... have to have room for a pop can ya know. We always need 50+ writing utensils available... ALL in front of the keyboard that you have to stretch to reach. But my wrists are WELL supported if a little rolly. The mouse is happy its optical since it has enough room to sit and thats about it. Twice now I have caught it trying to run away from home. If he keeps hitting the wrong key on the keys, he simply pulls it off and throws it away. Doesn't matter WHAT key it is. Good thing we have almost 100 sets up in the attic, but those are only the new ones... we also have around 200 sets of used ones. Once I hadn't been on this system for a couple of months and there were only three key caps ON the keyset... the rest were gone and he typed using the tops of the actual switches... yet he never learned to touch type. So we are set for 10 generations as long as Ac*cia doesn't come wanting a license fee for them. I almost WISH we could destroy cases since we also have about 75 of those somewhere around here. lol Soooo if something DID blow up, simply fish for the same sort of cables in a pile and plug them in! Go back to work! NO burger flipping here for several decades. lmao I'm **glad** I have my own system to go back to where the keycaps are all there (usually) and the mess is only 2" deep.... from 2001, the last time he was on my system! Oh and one tower is up against the main one I use since he needed a PS in a hurry and took MINE instead of one of the various network servers. Men!! Grrrrr |
