I need advice on this
Okay. So we moved to victoria. 4 of us. me, my friend ben his wife - and another person lindsey.
About 2 weeks in we find out lindsey is pregnant so she goes to visit her mom. we find out 1 week into the trip she plans on moving back without telling us. So 1 week later today... she walks in with her mom and starts packing. She owes us $275 for rent, and gave me $160. Not only this but she expects to keep her damage deposit. The contract we signed was open ended but we had a verbal understanding and agreement with the landlords that we would be here for a year. She is breaking that... and in Canada verbal is the same as signed when lots of parties are witnesses. What should I do? What can I tell her? How can we get everything she owes us? |
Should just look for another person to move in. Take it as a lesson learned that girls can not be trusted ;)
hell its an extra room |

If she isnt living there, then how will she get the deposit?
|
Find somebody to take her place ... if she's pregnant .. she prob cant afford to give you any money she owes you .. sucky situation for both of you ..
|
is the money worth lsoing a friend over?
|
See she owes us one month rent. but she paid me $160 actually
so she took out the damage deposit. EDIT: she's not a friend at this point. she knowingly fucked us over and did NOT tell us what she was doing, even though she told others. meaning she KNEW she was moving out but just was too coward to tell us. |
I can see where you are coming from
if you split her rent 3 ways itw ould be 68 extra a month. I guess its time to post in the paper you are lookin for a roomate. Hell if i was up there id move in for only 250$ a month :thumbsup |
HAHA!! See you on Mikes Apartment buddy :1orglaugh

That happens a lot. It's not right though.
Unfortunately, this is probably the 'you can't get blood from a turnip' type of situation. I believe she should be asked to pay what she owes you. She probably won't . I would start interviewing for another roomate. In the US we have apartment finders or organizations that you can list with to find the right person. Sort of like a dating service, I guess. I don't know if there is something like that where you are. Finding someone reliable to fill the room, you can move on and put this mess behind you without worry. |
Thanks bopha.... that actually made me feel a LOT better. Going to take your advice. :thumbsup
