Intelectual Property Laws?

Question...

I had a company, The Northwest Valley Chamber of Commerce, in Surprise, Arizona, not pay me for their site. Turned them into collections, ended up going to court and with the idiot attorney the collection agency gave me... lost.

How can a judge not favor me? I created the site design, layout and graphics... I own that right? I mean they NEVER paid me....

Now i have to appeal... and go through all this shit over again... is it worth 1700.00 and some change for this? This has been a year in process.

Has this happened to anyone and how did you fight it?

It is shit like this that makes me just wantto say fuck it all and go work for someone else. I hope these cocksmokers get what they deserve...

Sorry, this has been building up and I needed to release...

Any suggestions would be welcome... thanks :thumbsup

Your design=your copyright..

They use it without given the rights to=stolen content..

The judge may be a putz, but with the proper proof, the local news media would probably be interested in doing a write-up about it..

Would be fun for them to call the chamber of commerce thieves and have the proof in their hands..

Not a good thing to happen to them...

They might decide to pay up..

Yep.. that is it... my attorney said he didn't want to fight the copyright thing because they have it listed as their copyright on the page bottoms. Hey, what they provide is theirs... what I provided is mine... They have some copmany with automated chamber software running the back end and some of the shit is soooo off.. that I am not sure I even wantt o be associated with it in a news media battle... I just want to get paid.

This has been going on for over a year now... all they owe me is 1600.00 and some change. Cheap bastards

well, $1,700 for an appeal is cheap. Most appeals start in the area of $3K and go up fast.

If they screwed you out of $1.6K, maybe you count it as payment on your education. Have been in similar situations and learned to get a retainer up front. Usually half. That way it doesn't hurt as bad.

The other thing I do now before providing too much consulting or effort is check out the client. Has anyone else had problems. A trip to the court house will reveal if anyone else sued 'em. That can be done online in a lot of places now.

As for your current problem, I think it would be worth while to check out the court records on them. There may be a telling story???

You cold always appeal yourself, but that would take a ton of time in the law library.

No, the 1700 was not for the appeal... that is about what they owe me and not sure if I want to waste the time to do it... I will have to do it myself... not going to pay another attorney for this. Wasted good money on the flunky.

Guess I will have to look into this further and see just what is involved and how much time it will take and see if it is even worth the effort... sometimes... the principal of the whole matter make it worth it... sometimes...

Thanks :winkwink:

Can you mix pain and suffering into the suit as well somehow?
Thats when the big bucks come in!
