1-800-400-talk

Some one just called my brother-in-law's house for me, saying a relative of mine was in the hospital. They wouldn't give him details but gave him a number to call. He called here and gave my wife the number. She called and all the other line said was "1-800-400-talk". I did a quick Google search on it and it seems to be a phone sex scam line. WTF?

I don't know how anyone that knows me or doesn't know me would know my brother-in-laws phone number. I don't even know it. Weird.

Sounds like a scam to me...

I have had a couple of weird ass messages on my phone today, happy new year from area codes I don't recognize...

makes me wonder!

Alex

Yah, I'm pretty sure it's a scam, but it's pretty low. It did make me worried for a bit. Still kinda bothers me.

Dude, if you called that number you are probably about to get a fat ass phone bill and there's nothing you can do about it.

I called the local number that he gave me. All it was was a voice giving me the 1-800 number. I didn't bother calling that one.

Weird. Local number isn't a problem. I know there was a scam where they told people a relative died, or they had an inheritance and listed a long distance number. They could pretty much charge whatever they wanted when you called.
