Wait till it snows in your backyard on Christmas Day - and it's supposed to be summer. Now you know why we left Tassie :)

Just come a little further north mate - 34C today - nice onshore sea breeze blowing throughout the day - cooled off now with some rain and should be similar tomorrow.

Paradise is in Hervey Bay :)

Vitasoy 01-08-2004 01:16 AM

I could use some sun :(

chodadog 01-08-2004 01:18 AM

Pretty damn fucked. I think it was about 36 up here in Brisbane. The heat isn't so bad. It's the goddamn humidity that fucks me. When i was Abu Dhabi, it frequently got as high as 48C (118F). But that was a very dry heat. I'd say 38-40 C in Brisbane is probably even worse than 48C in the Middle East, just because of the goddamn moisture.

Dunno chodadog - you might change your mind after a couple of years of cold weather.

I spent 20 years working in country NSW and then moved to Tasmania and thought I would enjoy the cooler/cold climate.

That lasted for about 2 years and by year 7 we were both busting a nut to get out of there and move back to somewhere warmer.

There's always a certain romance about colder climates but when you're paying 500 a quarter for electricity in winter plus around 800 a year for firewood that you then have to chop - usually in the rain - the romance soon disappears

liquidmoe 01-08-2004 02:05 AM

Its so fucking cold outside that I went to get some food and came back with a headache, I think my hair is frostbiten.

I've had a couple of years of cold weather. I lived in Ireland for about 4 or 5 years. Other than that, it's been one hot country after another (South Africa, Botswana, UAE, Australia).

Planning on going back to Ireland. Hate the heat.

dont go out to much!

GonePhishing 01-08-2004 05:25 AM

Man... I would totally prefer the heat to the cold.

Dusen 01-08-2004 05:26 AM

It's -43 Degress Celcius here today.

katiepants 01-08-2004 04:39 PM

I hate summer in Brisbane. Hit 39 celcius yesterday and 41 out out at Ipswich where my sister in law works.

I much much much much much prefer the cold. Brisbane winters are sweet! My favourite time of year for sure.

Although, having said that, I have never seen snow so would have no idea just how cold and uncomfortable it would be to live somewhere where it snowed. I can only imagine that snow and ice would be a pain in the ass especially when driving.

Ic3m4nZ 01-08-2004 04:44 PM

Hit -27 Celcius here today and it's not that cold

Brat 01-08-2004 04:49 PM

yup im in montreal and it's freeeeezing. the worst thing is, this is NOTHING compared to what's coming. FUCK.

seriously I would love that.. my partner and I have spoken a little about moving to Tassie or New Zealand.. this isn't one of those "oh i hate the heat" in summer then in winter "oo i hate the cold" I've always loved the cold.

we get a sea breeze here to, but by fuck it was too hot yesterday for it to work.. we're going to get some cracker storms soon from all the heat.

yeah the humidity is what really gets me.. sucks when you hit the air and it's like walking through warm butter.

$5 submissions 01-08-2004 05:44 PM

Yeah, it has been pretty damn hot here as well in the Makati district of Manila, Philippines. But we do get a break most days with light showers and cloud cover.
