Free Mach 3 In the Mail!
I just got a free Mach 3 razor in the mail with a form letter from the president of Gillette telling me basically "I let you borrow my crack pipe, and the first hit is free... and here is a coupon for $1 off crack cocaine down at the open air market."
Smart marketing: free razor, now you are on the hook to buy blades forever!! I've always been a SensorExcel guy, but you guys talk about Mach3 like it is God's Own Razor, so I'm siked to try it out. |
I got sucked into that promo a couple of years ago; I've been hooked ever since.
I suspect that has been a highly successful campaign for them. |
Agreed, Mach3 is the best razor I've ever used.
|
where do u get this promotion?
|
Offer only good in the USA :BangBang:

Those razors cost like $10 in the stores... |

I got some a year ago for free. |
The best razors in the world are straight razors. Fuck safety razors.

Where'd you see that? |
i got one weeks ago.. fucking thing works damn good. I wish porsche would try to get me hooked, dunno how they'd get it in my mailbox tho.
|
I was already a diehard convert, and they sent a freebie to me about a year ago. Rather handy, now I have one for my travel kit, and one for home.
The New Yorker ran an article about the time it came out about the decades of research that led up to the Mach 3. The computer modelling they ran on hair follicles and skin types was quite amazing. It's no accident that it's a good razor. Evidently with that much money to be made, they can pour a LOT into R&D. The knockoff generic tri-blade razors just don't get the angles or the materials right. |

plastic one and this year they sent me an aluminium one. |

Yeah, I got one the other day

yeah. mach3 is the shit. but the blades are expensive (at least here).
|
It's a good business model... proven by drug dealers all around the world.
|
I got a free Mach 3 razor in the mail too :)

:) I've been just using the trusty old Gillette Beard Trimmer on its lowest settings. Avoids the itchy "growing back in" balls/ass. Can't deal with that. |
I have used the Mach 3 and the Quatro both great razors. :thumbsup

You do realise that they put RFID chips in it don't you?

:1orglaugh Sooooo now they know I'm shaving my ass with their product? Thats scary, I hope they don't take advantage of that data!!! |
Hell, they sent me a regular Sensor razor in the mail when I was 16 years old, I fell in love with it and used it for over 11 years (They definatey made their money back on me from buying blades all those years), I recently jumped up to the Mach 3 :)
|
Update.... almost 5 years later, I'm still using the same Mach3 razor they sent me for free.
Now THAT is effective marketing. Plus my balls are sooooo smooth. |

I use a rechargable electric razor...... so much easier!

I was about to say that the Mach 3 was soooo 2004. Glad I checked the thread date.
|
Gilette started their business model like that
Here is a very good article on theses tactics : http://www.wired.com/techbiz/it/magazine/16-03/ff_free |

dry it with a towel, the blades last much longer
|
Its definitely a good business model. They send me a free one years ago, and now ive spent hundreds on refills!
|
I tried em all, I keep coming back to the sensor excel, the MAC 3 and the 4 & 5 blade deals are just too wide and shred my neck.
|
sell it on ebay, show them how it is
