domain hijacked - need lawyer

Hi!

One of our domain names has been transfered from opensrs to enom without our authorization and I need someone to help us to reverse this transfer. We already contacted opensrs and enom, but they are rather slow working on this and we are getting tired of waiting.

Any recommendations? Any help available?

Contact me at [email protected]

Thx

Stef

talk to NSI

gooddomains 02-12-2004 12:24 PM

Why should I talk to NSI ? The registrars involved are opensrs and enom.

Brujah 02-12-2004 12:26 PM

call Enom. Hard to get anything from them by email, but they're helpful on the phone.

gooddomains 02-12-2004 12:31 PM

We already called all parties involved, but it looks as if everything is moving rather slowly, so we would like to prefer some help from a professional.

arg 02-12-2004 12:31 PM

I'd suggest using a local attorney (your regular attorney if you have one) and just educate them on the relevant issues. I think hijackings are rare enough that no attorney has significant expertise in the matter. In all likelihood, this isn't going to go to court, you just need an attorney to send scary letters to the registrars to inspire faster resolution.

gooddomains 02-12-2004 12:33 PM

We do not have a local attorney in the states as of now (we are based in the Netherlands), that's why I am looking for one right now.

Brujah 02-12-2004 12:36 PM

if you have icq, icq me at 3431124

Unbelievable, stealing seems to be a way of life for some.

Doc911 02-12-2004 12:48 PM

by the way here's a few highlights of the deal.

1, registered tentpants.com through adulthosting.com with a 59.00 doallar a month virtual hosting package.

2, first month seemed okay but I was still setting up things so its hard to judge.

3, second month shot about 200k a day of traffic through the site.

4, third month 3 out of the four weeks my site was down. No reply to emails or icq's or anything I even called them in the NL but got only a recording/answering machine.

5, cancelled my account due to complete lack of service. they kept charging my credit card anyway for three months.

6, t-1's were installed and dell server set to full throttle across both.

7, went to transfer tentpants.com to the new t-1's and all hell broke loose. password to opensrs was wrong. Tentpants.com was directed at some adult site I have never seen before or since. adulthosting was still not responding to my repeated requests for the password to open srs.

8, contacted open srs about the situatuion and got the brush off. contacted them again on the phone and after wading through a few highschool flunkies, I finally had a reasonable adult on the line. he said he had to give adulthosting one more chance. I said okay but in three days I'm going to file a complaint.

9, The next day I got a proper login for open srs and quickly transfered my domain to netsol.com.

case closed

adulthost.com???? We are trying to sue these people for years, if you have an information on them let me know. The are using stolen sites/content and are well known domain thieves.

cut your losses and move on. you will lose a lot more money trying to get it back.

why do think so ?

Rick Latona 02-12-2004 01:18 PM

with a GFY name like gooddomains I'd think you know that you can lock domains to keep that from happening.

because he is a fucking idiot.

i would be pissed to hell if someone did that, what registar allowed the transfer to happen? i know it went to opensrs but who did u have it with previously?

Ross 02-12-2004 01:21 PM

That happened to one of the biggest MGP's around. Someone stole her domain and the girl lost all her traffic coz it got switched to some shitty page.

Had to start from scratch. Assholes!

KRL 02-12-2004 01:28 PM

Why wasn't your domain LOCKED?

Do you leave your front door at home open also?

Geez people amaze me.

i'm sure there is a very important key missing here... like "oops, I let it expire and someone stole it from me".

$tandaman 02-12-2004 01:43 PM

Stef i have agood lawyer, the one who got sex.com back, hit me up on icq.

Doc911 02-12-2004 01:50 PM

Yes My appologies

it was adulthost.com

if I were adulthosting .com i would sue them. their name and bad rep is confusing between the two.

Doc911 02-12-2004 01:54 PM

Its a learning curve.

Lesson 1

Never host your site on someone elses servers.

AdultHost.com? They are very well known by domain owners for some previous cases.

gooddomains 02-12-2004 03:03 PM

anyone being screwed by adulthost.com that wants to share some info ?

Doc911 02-12-2004 03:24 PM

here's some info

they're assholes.
they don't return emails.
they ignore icq's
they don't return phone calls.
they won't respond unless threatened by law suits.
they break off any communication once legal representation is brought against them.

what else?

My guess is; its a fucking couple of 18 yearold webmaster wanna be's hiding in the netherlands smoking pot on virtual hosting fees..

just my :2 cents:

gooddomains 02-12-2004 09:20 PM

still looking for more help. Thx Stef

gooddomains 02-12-2004 09:24 PM

The adulthost.com guys are certainly not some 18 year olds sitting in the Netherlands. They are doing this for at least 4 years now and have a huge record of ripped of customers as well as companies they have stolen adult designs and content from.

JensMoviePost 02-12-2004 09:45 PM

Happened to me with likewhoa, registered a domain through their control panel and opensrs gave likewhoa the password and the fuckers at likewhoa wouldn't give it to me. My own domain was being held hostage.

I ended up having to hijack my own fucking domain and gained control.
NEVER EVER register a domain through a hosts control pannel. I don't care who the host is - register it yourself, then get it setup with the host.
