OK... Here's a description on how it works....
: it uses a database to manage the outgoing messages
: it uses a modern templating system to build the mail : it allows for marketing campaigns : that's the core : the core is basically the master server (i forget the term i had for it... i think it was Control server) : now the fun part is this, it is a completely scalable and modular system : the system allows for 2 delivery methods. : 1) delivery using one of the PowerServers : the powerservers are custom designed email servers capable of over 3k connections at a time : each powerserver could theoretically send out over 1900 emails a second : (theoretically, if you do the math it's way too big) : also, powerservers are scalable, ie, if you see mail is going out slowly, just pop in another box : 2) the distributed mailing client : the dm client is allows various nodes to send the mail out for you : the way the dm works for bulk mail actually saves you onbandwidth costs : by only sending out 1 copy of the email then sending out the differences in the template : the math comes out to somehting like 1/10 the bandwidth on pretty sizeable mailings (100 mil or more) : the interesting part of the dm client is that it runs in the background on a client and they won't know it's running because it doesn't use enough resources to be noticed : also the current model has a point system builtin to the client, so if you wanted to offer incentive to users to run it themselves, you could : i suggest you use a secondary control server slaved to a primary for the dm client, things can get messy afterwards : no one has a cluster like mine (or at all actually) : and no one has the dm client.. .that's the one that can hit 15 mil a minute |

One or 2 words please? I have no problem with what ever "it" is. But I am certain "It" is just another "Thing" from "Somthing" else that has exhisted prior and "it" probably has a simpler definition. So... What is "it"? |
