How much is the truth worth to you?

What I want to know is..

In business, what is truth worth?
Here's what I see here... Say for example I make a post on business being slow in a particular area, design, content, sponsor sales, ect.
It prompts a slew of replies like.. I don't know what you're talking about, business has never been better!

I've always run my business a certain way.. I rely on the truth whether it be good or bad because I was raised that way. This attitude has not always been popular with my significant others. My late husband would say to me.. tia, do you have to tell everyone everything? My answer was always yes, I do.

Sometimes it hurts me.. most times it helps me..

I'd like to hear other's opinions on this

strats 03-02-2004 06:47 AM

um.... what do you mean by the truth?

strats 03-02-2004 06:50 AM

,.... if most people here know what your talking about, excuse me.

always tell the truth, if not it will come back to haunt you.

I will not do business with anyone I don't trust except where there is a monopoly involved, like microsoft. I have no choice there.

It depends. If it's someone I view as competition, I lie. I lie like a teenager in the back of a police car. Generally being truthful about something like that can only hurt you. It's better to just not respond but if you must, LIE!

The truth will set you free.

Why lie about business, it doesnt make your money grow...lol

I'm afraid this is getting so many views and not enough repsonses because we got some serious shit talking liars on this board :1orglaugh

It may sound corny, but I would have a hard time looking myself in the mirror or getting to sleep at night if I tried to weave a web of lies to mislead or take advantage of people. I love having no skeletons in my closet and a clean reputation.

strobi 03-02-2004 09:09 AM

Telling everybody the truth all the time will get you nowere, you'll make enemies by the thousands:( Just be a little bit more diplomatic:thumbsup

The truth is - 80% people who hanging out here are sore loosers and they never admit it on public. :1orglaugh

As for the rest - they just work, don't write here :winkwink:

that's a little harsh isn't it Phoenix66? Posting is hard work, but it gets results.. believe me I know. I know some people would rather die than post a lot.. it's something you have to develop a liking for.
Also, posting is a necessity if you have webmaster oriented businesses like I have, it's one of the best ways to get known. Sure there are the ones you called sore loosers.. it comes with the territory, you'll find these types in any group, especially a large group like this. I think there are a lot of people on this board who make good money

pimplink 03-02-2004 06:58 PM

Telling the truth is earning other people's trust. and it will help finding a solution for some forthcoming problems.

Are you related to my wife, by any chance?

Kidding aside, though, I'll tell you what I always tell her. Nobody says you should lie, but if it's something that, if known by others, will not benefit you, then the least you could do is not mention it.

You really don't HAVE TO tell everybody EVERYTHING. If you do, then I imagine all your friends/neifghbors/acquaintances know all about your sex life, secret fetishes and taboos. Which I'd find very hard to believe.

Yes, I'm harsh, that's why people don't like me :1orglaugh

But really, 80/20 is a common rule based upon one of a nature's statistic laws. It's like 20% of wares do 80% of sales, 20% of people do 80% of job, etc, etc. The rest 80% worth little to nothing but they are required to keep things running anyway...

Reading through different boards I've learned that most of people who post a lot and speak a lot about how much they make are actually worth very little, have almost nothing useful to say and no money to make any biz with them. There are some public persons who just have to post a lot in order to keep their biz running, but they are easy to tell from loosers. Their posts are at least informative and/or helpful. They are those 20%. The rest just post a shit that just shade the truth and deceipt other people.
