nah...i saw it when i was little too! i used to always watch horror movies when i was little. i used to always have nightmares. but now when i watch these movies. i just sit back and laugh...

According to Stephen King, Kubrick screwed it up.

I read the book at a wee age of 12 or so and it scared the shit out of me.

The book ends like this:

Jack was preoccupied trying to kill his wife and son and 'fit in' with all the ghosts of the Overlook. In his preoccupance, he forgot to do his daily checks of the boiler room (where the hotel got it's heat from) The pressure exceeded the normal requirements and the boiler blew up with Jack still inside the resort. Wendy and Danny escaped, as they had made it outside.

Theres a lot more 'details' but thats the jizzt of the ending.
