What's new on Prohosters? Did they get rid of their downtime problems?

If anyone hosts with Prohosters, can you say if their service improved? Do they have the downtime problems they had 1-2 years ago?

Theo 03-05-2004 06:03 AM

they moved to a new network or something like that a week ago, claiming to be much better.

Valued ProHosters customers, my name is Rick Smith and I'm the CEO to
Carpathia Hosting. I hope that most of you received the kind introduction
Ted Hickman sent out yesterday outlining the bright future for ProHosters
and terms surrounding this very exciting transaction. As a neighbor just
down the hall from ProHosters, I have always been impressed with the service
offerings and commitment to customer service displayed by ProHosters.
Recently, as I have had the opportunity to call on a select few of you, I
have found myself even more impressed with the loyalty of the ProHosters
customer base. Having said that, I want to first bring to your attention my
personal commitment toward maintaining your current hosting plans and prices
as well as expanding both the levels of service and customer support
including the fantastic online support you have been come to expect from
ProHosters.

Since this is the first time you and I have met, I thought I would take the
opportunity to tell you a bit about who Carpathia Hosting is and what we
believe in. Carpathia Hosting was started to address the needs of the most
discerning Internet users. Located within the finest data center on the
east cost and powered by our intelligent routing network of over twenty-two

lasting relationships with our customers. We are committed to financial
responsibility and have been cash flow positive since day one as a result.
I encourage you all to take a look at our web site www.carpathiahost.com to
learn more.

Now that you know a little bit about us, I would really like to hear from
you. In the next week, just as soon as the dust settles, I would like to
send you all a small survey. The purpose of the survey is to give all of
you an opportunity to tell us ways we can continue to make improvements.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the survey results but encourage you to
shoot me a message at anytime with your comments. To ensure that I don't
miss any of your valuable input, please send your messages to
[email protected]

I hope to hear from you all shortly and look forward to us developing a long

Thanks, Soul Rebel, but Carpathia seems to be another company (with another site and other plans), although neighbors to Prohosters, do they share the same network now?

Looks like Carpathia Hosting acquired Prohosters. Guess Ted's cat throwing days are over?

From Carpathia Hosting's news page:

Valued customers, as many of you have been aware, Carpathia Hosting has been reviewing the assets of various hosting companies looking for products to serve you better. Today I am very pleased to report that the first such acquisition has occurred. Effective today, March 1st 2004, Carpathia Hosting has acquired the customer base and related hardware of Pro Hosters LLC.
I like their name.

carpathia - it comes from the name of the ship that rescued the survivors of the Titanic going down.

yep :)

i love the story of the titanic... i've read tons of stuff about it since i was about 10 years old.

How ironic.
Just a few months ago mister Ted was telling me he's not a quitter.

Thanks, psyko, I didn't notice that, so they were acquired by Carpathia ... Never heard of them, maybe it's a better solution for Prohosters ...

Sharky 03-05-2004 07:10 AM

Everyone is a quitter for the right price!

This is an ignorant statement. Prohosters was acquired by Carpathia for a nice chunk of money. Ted grew a company, has now sold it and is pursuing other ventures. If you knew some of the details on this, you would know how stupid calling him a quitter at this point sounds.

darksoul 03-05-2004 07:39 AM

Given the fact that I've worked for prohosters two years
I think I know more details than everybody else.

scoreman 03-05-2004 07:41 AM

Say what you will, Ted will be a millionaire before he is 30, how is your bottom line looking these days?

darksoul 03-05-2004 07:51 AM

so what ?
I'm 23 and I'll be a milionare by 25
but what does that say ?
NOTHING

do you actually have any idea why he started prohosters
in the first place ?
are you aware that he failed to met his goals ?
so what if he's a millionare ?

scoreman 03-05-2004 07:52 AM

blah blah blah
sourgrapes from an ex employee is all i'm hearing.

So is Prohosters reliable now? No more outrageous downtimes like in the past? Maybe you can enlighten me about them as they are nowadays ... :)

Your missing the fact that I didn't got fired but I quit
because I no longer beleived in prohosters.
I've been running the tech department for more than a year
and did it pretty good actually.
I'm sure every customer that got in touch with me can vouch for me.
I never betrayed Ted and don't worry I won't do it now, I'm not
that kind of person. I'm just pissed of this move.
But ofcourse there are many things you're not aware of,
and I can't understand why you insist in blindly defending this thing.

The quality of their network improved in the past months.
However I don't know how this move is going to affect things.

Sarah_Jayne 03-05-2004 08:47 AM

the domains I still have with them haven't had any downtime in atleast 6 months. I wasn't really paying attention to them before that.

my only concern with them continues to be the overage charges but other than that it is hard to fault the speed of the support staff either.
