Martha is guily on all 4 counts---

it says he can get up to 20 years.

lets all be honest with ourselves. If are neighbors works at abc company and we own abc stock and the neighbor telss us we should sell abc stock we all would do it.

SHE HARMED NO ONE . You cannot compare her to Enron, mci, adelphia and the others. They all fucked the public.

They should give her max 6 months.

The people from Enron, mci (worldcom), adelphia and who ever knowingly pumped there books so the public would buy there stock and then dumped there own stock to make cash and fuck the public there should be minimals of 10 years in prison for any person in tune with what was going on and who profited

Ironhorse 03-05-2004 02:00 PM

I don't hate her, and have watched her show a few times, she's really good at what she does. But she got greedy.

Picture yourself as one of the shareholders stuck with devalued stock because this filthy rich woman dumped her shares because she was well connected. How would you feel then? There is a reason for this law and people shouldn't break it.

Btw. this is a case about Martha Stewart and any Enron conversation should not really be a part of this

Yeah, right. Apply your statement to the Enron and World Com assholes. It's all a big fucking game. Stewart was a scapegoat in the thunderdome of celebrity, whoring and politics (all one and the same). I'm not saying she's innocent, but simply a victim of deflection and displacement: a legal verdict put in place to quell the clamouring of plebs nationwide; a diversion from the real crimes that goes down uncorrected with most "big players."

All I know is whatever lenght of time Martha Stewart gets in jail they should multiply that number by 10-20 for Enron... THat is why Enron is brought up. They made everyone of there employees hold there stock while it was crashing while the big wigs cashed out...

iFliPcEss 03-05-2004 02:14 PM

i need to read articles about martha stewart, i rarely know about her, but it seems she rocks in GFY, she's on the hot seat, what can I say about her?

If found guilty then she must face the consequences of what she did...

but I heard a lot of people like her as well...

we'll see then if "money & fame will talk"....

BTW--believe me no one from Enron will be getting off scott free. The federal government has at least 5 years to file charges from the time the investagation begins..

I'm gonna have to disagree with you howiekins only because I can't stand her. They'll probably give her a year or two, but she's definately not going to get more than 3 at most.

The only reason I say 6 months is because compare what she did to what the scum at Enron did and as you know there is no comparison.

The total value of the stock was less than 300k. Her savings was about 50k or so from using the info...

So here we have a billionaire in trouble for 50k. She is guily of being stupid, dumb and greedy but it was basically just a human decision and then she lied and thats why she is in trouble. But 6 months is the most time she would deserve and probabtion or house arresst would be fine too.

hottoddy 03-05-2004 02:25 PM

The actual insider trading charge was dismissed. She got fucked on all the obstruction of justice charges and conspiracy. As a general rule, it's not a good idea to lie through your fucking teeth when questioned by the authorities, especially for a relatively minor offense. If Martha had cooperated from the getgo, she would have received a slap on the wrist. Stupid stubborn bitch.

Max real time: 1-2 years and she deserves every minute.

eRock 03-05-2004 02:26 PM

She's in trouble cuz she allegedly lied about it. I agree, anythiung over 6 months is overkill, but I think cuz it's such a high profile case involving celebs they're gonna throw the book at her to make her an example....

Theo 03-05-2004 02:50 PM

Isolate you personal feelings about her, like, dislike, her financial position, fame and recognition....you can't have rapists and drug dealers getting away at the end with minimal charges and on the same time charge someone for a small-time financial scandal with 20 years.

Insider trading happens more than often. It's not only the US legal system that is lacking serious actions in such cases. Is she getting punished like this to set an example and erase the past inabilities of the system? That's how I perceive it.

She lied, does your common sense tells you she deserve such charges?

and justice for all

Here's the thing guys....

i don't really care about what she did or didn't do.

She should get a long jail sentence because I followed one of her recipes once and it didn't turn out good, and the love of my life left me because of it. I blame Martha.

Yes she was definitely made a scapegoat because of her visibility. Greed will get you everytime, these people never learn :2 cents:

She will still get of easy, i doubt she will get any jail time but will have to pay a 1 million dollar fine which is pocket change when she is worth over 1 billion.

Anyone who would have been charged, already has. All of the main documents are already missing, tons were in the word trade center building 7 I believe, and its all public opinion. Enron was hot, people wanted action, 9/11 comes along and everyone forgets.

Post again in five years and see how many people are doing time for it.

But yeah, 20 years is way too much especially in the light of hardcore criminals getting much less and Enron being a complete fuck up.
