Should he sell the site for that money?

Well a friend was contacted by a company that wants to buy the domain intelliradio.com off him

He told them that he is generally interested depending on the price. They answered and offered him 250 bucks.

He msged me and told me that the domain is worth nothing to him. It was registered only because it had a nice PR.

Now you ask yourself why I post this here.
What i found to be interesting is the fact that the email he showed me had the domain:
http://www.intellim.com/ in the signature.

I of course visited that website :)
-> interesting... now i look at the footer and see this:
http://www.intellimresearch.com/

and there I see those domains on the left:

Intellibuddy
Intellideal
Intellifun
Intellisavings
Intellisearcher
Intellisingles

All that makes me think that they could really need/want that domain hehe :Graucho

Should he really sell for 250 bucks? I would ask way more.

Wanna would like to hear your thoughts.

Reak 03-06-2004 07:16 AM

If they are a real company they pay atleast $2500

bluff 03-06-2004 07:16 AM

ask at least $1000

Michael O 03-06-2004 07:28 AM

Say $2500 but accept $1000 if its worth nothing for him $1000 is better than nothing.

IPK 03-06-2004 07:40 AM

whatever. if you're too greedy they're just going to walk away. they can get a million domains with that prefix. they're all available.

Napolean 03-06-2004 07:51 AM

haha, i checked out intellibuddy.com... i made the girlys talk dirty to me...

then they asked if i was aware that they logged all conversations..

we used to run that script on our webmaster forum
you can code it say any crazy shit you want

as for the domain
dont try to sell too high
liek someone else said - they can get any intelli- domain they want really.

nathan_f 03-06-2004 08:11 AM

Post the email, I need to fire one off today to someone. This cat is no good at creative writing. :1orglaugh

Trax 03-06-2004 08:52 AM

ok
will tell him to write them that the domain should be worth at least ten times what they offered right now to them asking for a new quote on the domain.

This should work, dont you think?

Thanks for your thoughts :)

keep comments coming if you want :glugglug

cashman 03-06-2004 08:59 AM

It's worth more.

KraZ 03-06-2004 09:29 AM

I wouldn't sell below $500 - just of self-respect they need to pay it :)

Trax 03-06-2004 10:24 AM

:glugglug :thumbsup

Trax 03-07-2004 04:56 AM

He just sent me that.... cut from the email he got:

"Thanks for the promt reply.

Unfortunately the price cannot go much higher than our original offer. We can probably go up to $300.00-will this work?
"

so will this work? i say no :)

do it for 400-500

DVTimes 03-07-2004 05:46 AM

Why not get an agent to sell it. This way they will get the best price.

Living For Today 03-07-2004 05:49 AM

count ur lucky stars someone actually wants such a shoddy domain and take the 300.

UK1 03-07-2004 05:54 AM

careful not to bid too high...they might call your bluff

Ash@phpFX 03-07-2004 05:55 AM

tough call, if you want more than they are willing to pay then you will lose out. considering its a shitty domain i would probably ask for $450, i think they will pay that, i wouldnt get greedy because you may regret it

Paul Markham 03-07-2004 05:57 AM

Depends on who is buying it, but $1,000 for a unique domain name would be fair.

Otherwise they would register their own version of it for $75 for 10 years.

grumpy 03-07-2004 07:04 AM

just say your not intrested...they will increase there offer.

hoe_vender 03-07-2004 07:20 AM

he has his shit together enough to figure out that it is smart to cover all the miss spelling because you will miss out on a lot of business simply because people are retarded.

No offence to NECOEDS because he still has to wear a helmet to go out side. Hope you are having fun down iin Texas :321GFY

zentz 03-07-2004 07:29 AM

good plan, why not make some extra money off it :glugglug

slapass 03-07-2004 07:57 AM

I would not push too hard. Thsi company does not look like it is doing that well. Their bot is cool though.

Maximillion 03-07-2004 08:09 AM

he said he's not gonna do anything with it anyway, sell for $300

still a very nice profit margin
