Message boards Need to Be More Innovative?

It seems, as the boards get more crowded the threads move faster and webmasters jump around from board to board like crickets. Where do you see GFY message board with the continuing evolution of its space? What process over time is going to be the break thru in the message board evolution to keep us Webmaster interested? For instance: "I would like a GFY virtual girl" who caters to my threads with passion & concern! Shut her off when she gets up tight?. Haha The message board industry is popping up like pop rocks did in the 1980's "Mikie he likes it? LMAO Anyway, I got to go jogging but give me some influx on some interesting changes that Innovation/evolution will bring to the unknown? What is gonna keep webmasters here with loyalty? :winkwink:

Boards are atracting webmasters by not enforcing their sig size policy. But it creates more and more sigwhores and dilutes what is interesting to be read or discussed.

I found myself parsing the threads on GFY or on other board like I parse the spam in my mailbox...

Don't you?

I feel where you coming from cuss I got a friend who arrest back in the day for branding my cd all over town. Maybe the post whore police should contruct some common law here. Make it up to the affiliate programs to hire the local publicist not the common thief!! :thumbsup

guschi2k 03-10-2004 06:14 AM

haha hopefully the branding thingy was worth it :)

sponsors should just drop all that wm-referral bonus stuff (and therefor maybe shave less *lol). i'd be all for it :thumbsup , but i guess that's not going to happen.
but it might also help a lot if there would be some policy like..."to qualify for referral bonus payout you need to generate XX signups in the same period"

markell 03-10-2004 06:19 AM

got damn, i hate message boards that dont enforce there sig policy.. mfers have a got damn 800x600 image in there sig n shit.. GOT DAMN I HATE THAT SHIT...

most have probably their own music/webradio running. i never work w/o any background music or stuff.

maybe some sort of "weekly/monthly workshop" with basic webmaster lessons would be interesting ... but then again ... i've seen it a couple of times and it usually just turned into some kinda bullshit. :ak47:

Hi

There is too many message boards out there and they all seem the same.

Or they are almost dead or they are 95% bullshit. You must wait days untill a interesting thread pops up. And when they pop, they get hijacked by stupid sig whores and their one word posts.

The challenge is to find a way to get rid of the useless posts and threads without getting rid of the fun and freedom as well. That would be really innovative.

Any ideas?

kisses,

Milena

I couldn't agree with you more. I don't think the sig industry has had a positive effect on GFY, theres just more and more shit to weed through every day now

NickB. 03-10-2004 09:57 AM

I truly get way more business done here than any other board for sure! :thumbsup

some of the sig whores irritate me though

BT 03-10-2004 12:01 PM

The truth of the matter is......... Opinions vary! :winkwink: Lensman has done a great job with this message board but what does that have to do with the price of tea in china? Innovation with some trippy blue skies streaming across the darkness of my interface.... "Hold that thought a webmaster on line 1":thumbsup
