It was proabably an employee who had access to the programming and was either pulling a stunt or revenge. I've worked in network security and an estimated 80% of all security breaches are "inside jobs" .. followed by 12 year old kiddies who download auto-rooters from warez sites.. there's no hard stats on "real hackers" because it's seldom that they ever get caught.. and they never brag or publisize their "jobs".. they're usually receiving a big paycheck .. if they even exist.

I don't think it was really hacked. From what i read they allowed snow closings to be posted via their website so those guys just had some fun with it.

Old and it's not even hacking. The news had feature where people could announce business closures due to extreme weather. There was simply no screening process on the web site, whatever got typed in went on the marquee.
