Carrera GT Presentation (Hi Quiet ;))

I was at a presentation of the Porsche Carrera GT at my dealership today (http://www.us.porsche.com/english/us...gt/default.htm)
and had the chance to see it "live" ..

To be honest , I was very disappointed. Keeping in mind that this car is about $500,000 the back is the worst part , looks like cheap plastic and would be a strict no no for me.

The new Lamborghini Gallardo Spider or the SLR would be a much better choice.

But that is just my 2 cents,

Mike

I heard this before from a friend that took a test drive with one. (not that he was planning to buy one lol)

Really? I think you would come to the dealer with quite an impressive car just to testdrive one....:glugglug

The Porsche 911 GT2 is one of the most desired cars in the world. At a cost of over $185,000, the Porsche GT2 can reach top speeds of close to 200 MPH and accelerate from 0-60 MPH in under 4 seconds.

SAD!

Isnt it Carbon Fibre body, hence the plastic texture feel

strobi 03-20-2004 07:37 AM

I sat in one in Brussels (never driven one... dealer wouldn't let me:() But indeed, I wasn't all to excited about it. And mutch to expensive.

This is disappointing. I considered taking a deeper look into that car several months ago, then came to my senses, that's just too damn much for a car. There is a Mercedes out now that is supposed to come head to head with the GT, but is about 100K less - anyone seen that?

cayne 03-20-2004 11:31 AM

wow...THAT'S a price...

The SLR? Yeah, it's badass.

yea, but don't forget F1's go for like 1,4mil US IF you can lay your hands on one. Still a big difference even if money does not play any role.

On a side note, the funny thing about the Macca F1 is that it has 24 karat gold in the engine compartment for heat absorbtion!

Yeah I watched a nice documentary on the construction. Alot of the carbon fiber pieces are actually hand stitched together...I believe there sare something like 5,000 individual pieces of carbon fiber going into making the body alone.

i'd rather get a Ferrari 375, a Merecedes cd or sl 55/600 and a condo in South Beach for what that 1 ride costs!

does look cool though.

those new Lambo Murcielego's seem pretty reasonably priced actually at $150K or so...

Yeah, I agree with you. I think this car is for the guys that already have all that. :winkwink:
