US Promises Overwhelming Response to Iraq Killings
 

U.S. troops on Thursday promised an "overwhelming" response to brutal killings in the Iraqi town of Falluja and vowed to hunt down those who shot, burned and mutilated four American contractors.

Marines took positions on the outskirts of the restive town west of Baghdad where insurgents ambushed the contractors on Wednesday.

"Coalition forces will respond," the U.S. army's deputy director of operations Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt told a news conference. "They are coming back and they are going to hunt down the people responsible for this bestial act.

"It will be at a time and a place of our choosing. It will be methodical, it will be precise and it will be overwhelming."

Actually the people who did that just killed them and ran away way before the mob came in. So nobody really knows who did the killing but we all saw who did the crap following the assassination.

I was watching CNN yesterday and they said that most people in Fallujah where proud of the killing but ashamed by that mob scene.

What gives you reason to think that they were innocent civilians...and it is BS that our troops did not receive fire on that day.

My Lai was located in a designated "free fire zone"...a free fire zone was designated as such because it was an enemy stronghold...where "civilians" were the enemy or supported and supplied the enemy...and this included very young children as many dead American soldiers serving in Vietnam learned the hard way.

On that day four villages were to be assaulted...and as is SOP they were prepped by Air...by Artillery...and by Mortar bombardment before ground troops entered the AO. Basically every living thing was to be destroyed...including livestock...crops destroyed...and hooches burned (though this was not an official order).

Before you start spouting off about the Geneva Convention...just understand that combatants on both sides in every conflict violate the Convention. The actual combatants within these four villages were violating the Convention. Shit happens...in the real world.

When you've been owned just pull out the flag.
