A pound of stupidity weighs more.

jimboc 04-02-2004 06:21 AM

They weigh the same, water expands when frozen, but it's the same mass.

For some reason, that's a very stupid comment.

Mutt 04-02-2004 06:24 AM

the most fascinating thing though is that a pound of feathers weighs more than both the pound of ice and water.

KMR Stitch 04-02-2004 06:24 AM

What weighs more

Pound of Feathers or a pound of steal :-x

jimmyf 04-02-2004 06:25 AM

I don't know if I'm qualified 2 answer this question after spending 35 years in the Scale business.

the_wizz 04-02-2004 06:25 AM

Water weighs 62.416 pounds per cubic foot at 32°F, the freezing point and 61.998 pounds per cubic foot at 100°F. So it would be pretty close but with a highly sensitive scale the ice would weigh more.

ldinternet 04-02-2004 06:26 AM

What weighs more?

£1 of salt or a pound of salt?

mmmm very difficult question eerrrr if they both weigh a pound eerrr then they must weigh the same hahaha

Evelyn 04-02-2004 06:28 AM

A pound is a measurement of weight, not volume.
a pound of alfafa is = to a pound of water is = to a pound of shit is = to a pound of ice is = to a pound of headcheese, etc.

jimboc 04-02-2004 06:29 AM

Very funny, it caught me out lol

Probably £ of salt, unless salt is really expensive where you are. I can get 5 pounds for $2 here.

Depends if you are talking table salt?

Jer 04-02-2004 06:32 AM

This thread made me remember that I placed water to boil (to make tea) minutes ago. Thanks!

I hate when all the water evaporates :winkwink:

True. I was referring to table salt. You can get a salt lick here for about $5 for 5 pounds. Got any critters that need a salt lick?

There was a question like this when they forced me to join the army 14 years ago.
If I was smart I would have given the wrong answer...:(
