heh, they did. That's why the Iraqis are pissed off. They banned the newspaper because it was "advocating insurrection". Surprise surprise, the result is insurrection.

Gheenz 04-05-2004 12:34 AM

We need to do something! 7 were killed Sunday and I'm sure more will be killed today!

Chaldoray 04-05-2004 12:36 AM

it's always been bad, bush's fault.

Goose 04-05-2004 12:37 AM

it'll take a long time until something changes down there. And hopefully the shooting and bombing will end a lot earlier...

insanesurfer 04-05-2004 12:39 AM

It has been bad for a while. Time for the US to start to act like a superpower.

well, its really becoming another vietnam I think.

Because the soldiers aren't fighting other soldiers in uniform.

They are getting killed by people who are dressed like ordinary civilian, and really they can't just slaughter the population.

And at this and age you can't really bomb the entire city flat neither.

So, its a tough situation.

erehwon 04-05-2004 12:47 AM

To think we are handing over the keys to the country on June 30th.

Mark my words, they are hoping that if they burn a few more soldiers or contractors we'll stick our tail between our legs and pull out early like what happened in Somaila in 1992.

I just dont see any other countries willing to send in large amount of soliders to iraq even if the UN does take over on July 1st.

KRL 04-05-2004 12:49 AM

Ya know what they need to is declare marshal law in the fucked up sections of Iraq now to weed out the bad guys. You're on the streets bang bang you're dead.

Fuck these goat licking towelheads. Time to get serious with these pricks and lay some big time lead into their neighborhoods to show them who's in charge now.

Pardon me, but are you insane?

Please compare the death toll of US soldiers in Vietnam, to the current death toll in Iraq.

Hell, we will have more people killed by handguns in NYC this year, then soldiers killed in combat in Iraq since the start of this war.

So your solution is not so different from Saddam's.

Is that you idea of "liberating" people?

First off that date is gonna be changed that's for sure. Secondly even after handing over the keys, the US is gonna stay.

Are you really that stupid? They're just taking revenge upon someone who took over there country and they think there's a very good chance that they can get the US to leave in 20 years, just like Vietnam. Any idiot knows that the US can't possibly leave now, wether it wants to or not.

Actually if you compare the death toll of Vietnam's first year to Iraq's first year, then you'll notice that in the first year, more soldiers died in Iraq than in Vietnam.

But I agree, you can't really compare the two situations.

That's actually the best solution I've heard. Even from the assholes on CNN. Notice how he said in the fucked up areas, or the areas of insurgency. Otherwise troops are sitting ducks. Around every corner is an ambush just waiting for an American face. I think we need to get soldiers in plain clothes, with something covering their face, and fight them on a level playing field. You should read "Steel My Soldiers Hearts" by David Hackworth...shows how an American company in Vietnam wiped out an entire NVA division by giving them some of their own medicine. "Out-guerillaing" the guerillas.

I think that would bring on more trouble than the total of the allied forces in the country could handle. It almost seems like this is the attitude that has created the mess in the first place, but hey.. sure, give it a go.. the only problem is that it's very hard and costly for a minority to rule by force for extended periods. Lets hope the minority are not those allied to the U.S.

I doubt that CNN would propose such a solutions.

Wait, so why exactly was Saddam removed? He treated them the same way you wanna treat them.
