If Cobain didnt kill himself, how would the music biz be different? Man it seems like it was just yesterday that I heard the news. Kinda sucks that nirvana ended like it did.. They were one of those "special ones".

Babagirls 04-05-2004 10:37 PM

i think the music biz wouldnt gotten so fuckin shitty.

90% of todays "bands" are crap!!!

im sure hes sqirming in his grave :helpme

eroswebmaster 04-05-2004 10:38 PM

well maybe he would have killed courtney...that would have been something.

dunefield 04-05-2004 10:39 PM

The band would of broken up by now if he was still alive.

apscripts 04-05-2004 10:41 PM

I think popular music gets good every time there is a crappy president. So maybe some good bands will hit the mainstream again soon. BTW, have you heard the pixies? Cobain once said he was a cheap Frank Black rip off. I will see them in may at cochella - very excited.

If kurt cobain was still alive he would be playing volleyball on the beach with Creed while high-fiving rick rubens...just like Chris Cornell. Haha. No I got that from a magazine article...

Creative 04-05-2004 10:41 PM

Hopefully you would have killed yourself in his absence

j/k I heart you headless

Shoehorn! 04-05-2004 10:42 PM

Funny you should start a thread like this, I was watching a news show interviewing two authors and a private investigator that says there is overwhelming evidence that Kurt Cobain was murdered. Here's the site - http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4638575/

Shut your face bitch. Make more then 100 posts then talk to me.

apscripts 04-05-2004 10:44 PM

90% of today's bands aren't crap. What you get on the radio is crap. Music on the radio is rarely good...except for like 2 eras of music in the history of rock. But if you *go and find* the music you will see that good music is thriving right now. Read www.pitchforkmedia.com - good place for music reviews.

Swiftone 04-05-2004 10:47 PM

The music business would be even more saturated with crappy bands who think 3 chords in a song = good.

I liked Nirvana, but it was because of the lyrics and the overall feel of the music. I dont necessarily think they were great, or nearly as good as people make them out to be. But all the bands that try to rip them off, oh good LORD.

Rich 04-05-2004 10:51 PM

It wouldn't make a difference, Clear Channel and MTV would still have turned music into the bullshit it is today. Take a look at American Idol, that show pretty much sums up everything. Any jackass off the street can become the next MTV superstar.

There are still other great musicians out there... Pearl Jam, Beck, Tragically Hip, etc, etc, etc, but they've been pushed out of the corporate "mainstream" by the CEOs who only push shitty music with messages about money being everything, violence, zero sum gains, and other generally mind numbing horseshit. Kurt Cobain was probably the best musician since Lennon, but even he couldn't beat the corporations. :2 cents:

afraid to say but I think he had the most impact by having become an icon. Had they gone on they would have eventually done a bad album and it would have taken away from their brillance early on. Also, Dave Grohl would not have emerged as he has and that talent would have been wasted behind a drum set for the rest of his life.

Sometimes you just have to take what we were given.

I agree with the other 2 guys about MTV being the devil as far as good music is concerned.

Also, Alice in Chains was better than Nirvana :)

The whole conspiracy thing with Courtney having Cobain killed is bs. There was a guy on a local public access station here in Seattle that did NOTHING for a whole year but look at the camera and repeat his "facts" that Cobain did not commit suicide.

It's kinda funny that Love thought Kurt was having an affair with some chick, when in reality (granted..just hearsay), he had had a fling with Michael Stipe of R.E.M.

that is indeed massive hersay but were it true I would be so jealous of Kurt for having done so.

Alice In Chains Singer Lane Staley Dead

Layne Staley, the 34-year-old singer from the Seattle based grunge band, Alice In Chains was found deal on Friday. Staley was known to be a heroin addict but according to multiple internet sources, the cause of death is not certain. Investigators did say that Staley had been dead for several days before he was found on Friday.

Alice In Chains was one of the most talented acts to rise from the Seattle music scene (including Soundgarden, Nirvana) in the early 1990s. Alice In Chains dark lyrical content and hard hitting rock style was a radical change from the hairspray rock of the late 1980?s heavy metal scene. In a musical era where boy bands and lip synch divas rule supreme, Staley will be missed dearly.

There have been many "show biz" and "music" folks that have said that they did indeed "rendevous" a few months before Cobain's death.

And at least Stipe finally came out of the closet a couple of years back. :)

Stipe was never in the closet. The majority of people who are into his music just don't care one way or the other. He could have me any day but then he impacted my life so much that he is *my* cobain.

If Cobain was still alive, their wouldnt ever have been a "foo fighters". The foo fighters suck major ass.

flashfire 04-06-2004 03:05 AM

Nirvana wouldnt have been nearly as popular if he didnt kill himself, sad but true

aico 04-06-2004 03:12 AM

Music today sucks big donkey dicks. It's so sad that all the fucking songs on the radio are fucking cover songs. Bands can't even come up with a fucking good song so they butcher an old one, how fucking pathetic is that? But the music industry blames it all on Peer to Peer... ha, I blame it on No Talent Dipshits who couldn't hahahahaha a good tune if their life Depended on it.

If Curt wasn't murdered, and by some miracle of God hadn't OD'd yet, I am sure he would still be on top. That Bitch wife of his gave him enough to hahahahaha about for a life time... The last thing he said to her was "Be Careful that thing's loaded"

Foo Fighters fucking suck ass. When you resort to doing a cover song, you fucking suck, no question about it. Dave Grohl is a fucking no talent idiot who road the coat tails of Nirvana, and I think his ride is over.

Bands have sucked ass for along time, Not since Zepplin, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Doors, and other gods, has there been any good music...

AudioSlave kind of Rocks, but Soundgarden was way better, other than that, there are no good bands at all on the airwaves,t hey are all probably hidden at home in their garages, cuz they care more about the music than when their next video will be made...

VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK MTV!!!

:BangBang: :2 cents:

flashfire 04-06-2004 03:15 AM

dont listen to the radio or watch MTV...find music you like whatever it may be and dont allow others to force their opinion on you:2 cents:

I find it funny that they say "Alice In Chains style was a radical change from the hairspray rock of the late 1980's heavy metal scene". I have pics of when they were a glam band right before they got signed. The record company just told them to get rid of the glam and slow down their music (since they played so fast).

Ian 04-06-2004 09:01 AM

I often wonder what the music biz would be like today if people like Jimmy Hendrix were still alive. :2 cents:

chodadog 04-06-2004 09:12 AM

Fuck the foo fighters. Dave Grohls' new band, probot, are fantastic.

I don't think his death made a difference at all. The only thing that changed was Nirvana. They would have ended up releasing a fucking horrible record and they would have faded away into nothing.

Dying young is the best thing that can happen to a rock star if they don't know when to call it quits.

cayne 04-06-2004 10:28 AM

I don't think that one person/band have the power to change the whole industry.

undermyspell 04-06-2004 11:10 AM

cayne that's a ludicrous statement. There have been numerous artists that have changed the musical world. Alice Cooper, Nirvana, Elvis and there are more but I don't really want to dig into my thoughts at the moment to come up with all of the pioneers.

Also, Cobain didn't kill himself. Do you know how damn hard it is to commit suicide with a shotgun? Especially considering you're not a very large man with very long arms. I'm a relatively tall person and I would more than likely find it difficult to maneuver a shotgun into position to kill myself with it. There is pretty overwhelming evidence that he was murdered. I suspect that the real culpret was il duce...

{fusion} 04-06-2004 11:16 AM

bleach was a killer album, cant deny that.
