GMail may be blocked by legislation!
A California state senator said Monday that she was drafting legislation to block Google's free e-mail service, Gmail, because it would place advertising in personal messages after searching them for keywords.

Should be a choice to the surfer wether they want their emails scanned or not to use the surfer. This is just like the government trying to charge on VoIP, so much bullshit right now
That's retarded. Google isn't forcing anyhahahaha to use it. If you don't like their ads, get a hotmail or yahoo email account.
wtf,,, that is just retarded
I think the main problem that people are seeing with it is that it searches your personal email message. It would suck if google stored that info, and that would be invasion of privacy.

Right US is supposed to be a 'democratic' country...or what.....:glugglug
I saw something on TechTV i believe the other day about "Gmail" being copyrighted somewhere in europe if i remember correctly.
no matter what they say..spam will render it useless
They'll just have to host it somewhere else .

Right, so Google can't have some algorithm place targetted ads in email, but its ok for the FBI to read e-mail without a warrent?

They'll just have to host it somewhere else...
I think the guys from google are smart enough to grasp that as long as they hold US Citizenship, they'll go to jail if they break US Law. Offshore means diddly, off PLANET means diddly. You guys put wayyyy too much stock in a pat answer that can be gotten around in some cases for some things... but not all things. |
