HELP: Internet explorer loading the wrong page when I go to a site
I've googled my heart out to solve this problem and I can't figure it out. Let's get a few things out of the way first. I have multiple anti virus and spyware programs installed, all with the latest updates and there's nothing malicious on my computer as far as I know.
I've been having this problem for about a year where when I load a page like Porncity, IE will take me to a random other page instead. Or sometimes I will go to PC but there will be a ton of broken images. I'll close IE and reopen it and either my homepage loads or a random site loads, sometimes the last site I visited. Usually if I open and close IE enough times, I can browse the net for about 10 minute before my browser goes wacky again. If it gets really bad, I just restart my laptop and it works for about 15 minute before it starts going whacky again. This only happens on my laptop. I have hahahahahahas XP, the latest hahahahahahas updates and the latest version of IE. I get the same problem in Netscape, the wrong random page loading when I try to visit a site sometimes, and it doesn't work until I quit Netscape and open it back up again. |
Sorry this isn't gofuckyourself, your browser must have sent you to the wrong place:2 cents:
|
Check your hosts file, will have different names depending on your Wind<k>dows version.
|
Get yourself a copy of HiJack This and run it, save the log file, and post the output here if you want some help in getting rid of the troublesome applications/BHO's/etc.

Okay, in the list, remove:
C:\program files\support.com\client\bin\tgcmd.exe AND O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ZTgServerSwitch] c:\program files\support.com\client\lserver\server.vbs "TGCMD.EXE is spyware originally created by Tioga/Support.com. If you're an @Home subscriber, this was probably installed with your Comcast @home software. If you own a Sony Vaio system, it was probably factory installed along with the Sony Support software. This program collects data on the programs that you use and websites you browse. It is unclear if anything is being done with the data. This program and the companion file TGKILL.EXE can be safely uninstalled from the Start menu > Settings > Control Panel > Add/remove programs. Remove either "Comcast Support Software" or "Sony Vaio Support" depending upon which appears. This program may also appear with the following switches depending upon how it was installed: /server /nosystray /deaf /startupmonitor " Otherwise, I really can't see anything that looks like it could be an issue. What you might want to do is look into your security settings for internet explorer and ensure it prompts you before installing ActiveX objects and the like. |
