More proof that Google has gone public:

Recently, I have been seeing billboards advertising Google cropping up around the Atlanta area. This marks the first time I've seen Google advertise anywhere.

i dont see why google needs advertising. everybody knows about it and uses it anyways

so does coca cola... And they spend billions on advertising!

I dont see why Google has to waste money on advertising really.

They are not wasting money.. they are investing on their image and popularity.. more attracts more... that's the reason.

Google is huge... but not too big to overthrown by something better.

McDonald advertises all the time:

"Hey, we are the people that make hamburgers..."

As long as there are other people making hamburgers -- people making hamburgers need to advertise.

Yahoo is competes heavily with them now and advertises like hell.

It's like coke buying ads for the superbowl sure we all know about coke but it reinforces it in our head that its still there and to go buy it.
