First Surgery Over
Friday's cataract surgery went fine. The surgeon and staff was great but we had a hell of a time trying to find the surgery center. They really should consider a two-sided giant sign considering that most of their patients are nearly blind people.
They gave me a shot to relax me but did not knock me out when they stuck a needle in my eye to numb it. They put a warm blanket over me since they were use to old women who always complained that they were cold. The operation itself was bizarre: I was looking at a bright light one minute and then looking through a deep blurry haze the next minute. I did have a complication with the eye pressure when I went back on Saturday morning. It was up to 30 instead of 20 and the surgeon told me that it happens sometime after a surgery. He gave me some numbing drops and poked a hole in my corena (sp?). When he did that, a stream of liquid ran down my cheek. That was much scarier than the actual operation. He was surprised that I did not have a headache the night before. I was told that if I get a headache to call him or my regular eye doctor. My next follow up appointment is May 19th (my mom gets her second operation the day before). My right eye will be operated on May 28th. The new lens are set at -2 nearsightedness so I will need glasses to drive but not to read. The colors are more vibrant and items are more clearer in my left eye now. Unfortunately, I cannot use my right eye. If I use both eyes, then I see double. I am taking it easy for the first week. Doctor told me no lifting 10-20 lbs and not stooping over. He also told me to get plenty of rest and no overworking the corrected eye. I am taking three different eye drops four times a day for the first week. |
I dont know you but no one has replied yet so I will be the first to say congrats on the success of your operation.
It has to be scarey having your eyes worked on. |
