Should religious programs be given tax payer's money?

Bush today:

"I'm telling America, we need to not discriminate against faith-based programs," Bush told a White House conference of community leaders. "We need to welcome them so our society is more wholesome, more welcoming and more hopeful for every single citizen."

How do you feel about faith-based programs? Personally I have no problem with groups being given money who could better do a job than the govt. could do with it, but I forsee 2 major problems with this. First will be that many groups that qualify as "faith-based" will not be allowed to participate (Bush needs to call it "MY-faith based":)) and the other is that once these programs are in effect it will give excuse to cut existing programs people depend on and these faith-based programs will find themselves critically underfunded for the new responsibilities dropped on them.

I wonder if faith-based programs that recieve taxpayer money will only be 'approved" faith-based programs...in other words, no filthy muslims, buddhists, satanists, goat worshippers, Pesci-ites, etc.

only good upstanding voting Christian programs who help elect crooked Texas oilmen into office.....

That was my point exactly:winkwink:
