My chihuahua barks nonstop, what 2 do?
 

Any dog owners, would really appreciate the input. I've had my chihuahua for 3 years now, problem is she barks uncontrollably when someone enters our house and will absolutely not stop until that person leaves. its becoming a big problem because practically no-one can come inside our house and we have to kick the dog outside and yet she continues to bark without stopping until the person inside our house is completely out and goes away. She's not the type to bark for 10 mins or so and then stop, she never stops at all. Anyone with dogs can help out here what i could do

Bark collar. It beeps and gives a warning during the first bark. then it gives a little shock during the second bark. She'll eventually learn not to bark when the collar is on. You can eventually remove the batteries and just having the collar on does the trick. They sell these at Petsmart, cheap.

Pick up this spray shit at your local Mutt Mart called Bitter Apple. Dogs fear it like the plague. Hit him in the nostrils a couple times with that shit when he barks and it should cure him. If not try frying him. I hear they are good with sour cream.

wrap a rubber band around her mouth for 24 hrs and will cut the circulation andher mouth will swell, take it off and see if she barks for the next week....repeat as needed until she learns or bites a finger off next time you try to put another rubber band around her mouth

My dogs did this, I have 3 so you can imagine how hard it is to stop once it gets going. An internationally acclaimed expert Sue Stromberg taught me this trick.

Put 10 or so pennies in a aluminum can, put duct tape over the opening. When the dog begins to bark , shake the can while repeating "QUIET" in a normal tone of voice. The violent rattling will startle him especially coming from you. This will not work immediately but when he stops barking for 15 seconds, praise him. Everytime he barks repeat this process. Eventually ( after many weeks/months of using the can to get their attention)all you have to say is the word QUIET and they will respond accordingly. It's amazing. It totally worked for me.

another widely used HUMANE technique ( jees guys some of you are cruel) is to pick the dog up and put it into a bedroom or bathroom CALMLY each time he begins to bark. When he has stopped barking for 15-30 seconds , go let him out. When he barks again, repeat the process. It's really quite easy to do. You just have to be consistent. He will learn that barking removes him from your presence ( his most prized thing) and he WILL stop doing it. You just have to be consistent and calm. There are no problem dogs, just inconsistent/harmful/regressive training methods.

Do not get a bark collar, those things are fucking cruel.

Just get a water bottle, have some one come over just for this, and every time she barks spray her. But be careful not to turn it into a game. I did that with a cat I had a long time ago and it turned into the chase game. :1orglaugh

You can also add some vinegar too the water. They do not like that!!

I would plan for someone to come over a lot at first. Plus have it be a different person sometimes so she doesn't get use to that one person.

The bean bags worked for us. Plus they do not hurt at all.

When it barks show it pictures of what they do to dogs in Korea. Then show it a box a little larger than the dog with one way postage to Korea and its name on it. If the dog is smart, problem solved. ;)

Do you have a little kennel or dog pen for her? A good start would be to put her in there everytime she wigs out.

My dog chills out when I lock him in his kennel, he has a stupid blanket in there he loves and will eventually stop making noise and relax.

When he gets super crazy we just put the cage in the back room. :1orglaugh
