Instead of complaining to us here, why not just put it back in the vehicle and return it?

I'd return it. Since you bought it today, you didn't buy it online, so returning it would be no problem. Any decent store would even pay to send out a new one and pick up the bad one, once you *convince* them that they should do that. A manager should be willing to avoid that complaint.
