How many times would you help
...a friend. I have a life long friend...who cannot seem to get his shit together. Over the years I have bailed him out of financial difficulty four previous times. The first time he paid me back...the second time he almost paid me back...the third and fourth times he barely made an effort to pay me back. He is asking me to assist him again...to the extent of $10,000. If I bail him out...I am fully aware that I will receive very little...if any...repayment. I love the guy as we have been friends since childhood...and he really is a nice guy...but does not seem to be a very good manager of money...ie lives above his means.
My first tendency is to give him the money...but I wonder if helping him out...is really helping him out? |
What if instead of giving him the money you give him a means to earn it himself?

Tell him you'll be there for him but you cant help him out money wise. Thats the ebst way to lose a friend. Give them money. :2 cents:
|
Fuck that....$10k? No no...let him learn his lesson.
|
One of the hardest lessons to learn is if you can't depend on yourself, you can't depend on anyone else.
Financially or otherwise. Time he learns his lesson :( If he takes a hike, then you'll know he was using you. BG |
Give him half the money, and tell him thats all you can part with. Force him to come up with the rest himself.
|
He's asking you for money due to him living a lifestyle he can't afford. He has no discipline and will further distance himself from financial responsibility if you bail him out.
