building a non porn site - what's a good banner ad company to go with?
 

Hey,

I'm building a site on creative smoking techniques. take that as you will. Can anyone recommend a good ad company? I'm taking over the domain from a kid who just had pics of him and his friends smoking dope.

It's get about 70 hits/day just because of it's name... it's not on any search engines and currently has nothing but the word "busted" on it... so i think It'll be good to market... considering i get the domain for free... it's a .org site though...

i'm rambling. I need a good banner company. Anyone recommend anything? doesn't have to be porn, and we won't blatantly be encouraged any illegal activites.

if you go to the cybererotic webmaster page, then there's an affiliate program that pays you 20 cents per click thru (not click please note). But anyways, all the surfer has to do is sign up for free anonymous e-mail.

Not sure on the current status on tobacco companies legally advertising in ANY format, but you could try emailing them for sponsorship. Offer to have print out coupons and the like for them etc. We get 20% for the idea if you go good! http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/wink.gif 3 years on the 20% and then its yours!

They have to be looking for serious ways to advertise now tho. GPC is a creative new comer in tobacco. Maybe a coupon of the week idea with pages for each company willing to sponsor ya. Charge em BW as well as 100 a week or something.

Commission Junction is pretty good...if ya have non adult traffic.

Unfortunately...I dont have much non adult traffic...so it's taken 2 years to reach the minimum check payout of $25

If you're planning on building that non adult site up, one thing you might want to do is kind of turn it into a "portal." Not necessarily the whole site, but simply have the links there.

For instance, have some stuff on free newsletters. There are companies out there that pay over 50 cents for a email address just for somebody signing up for a friggen joke a day email. There's tons of categories to cater to just about anyone. I think one of the places are http://www.focalex.com

Have links up for those who want to enter contests and shit, I think iwin.com or iwon.com has an affiliate program where every person you send over that registers (which is free) gets you a $1. Not sure about the price, haven't checked it out in a while.

But the point is that just because a site is about cars, you don't necessarily have to have just ads pertaining to cars to make cash. The main ingredient is TRAFFIC. Once you get that going, people click on whatever catches their eye. Kinda like porn sites. It's not uncommon to see a hardcore site have filter links off to asians, teen, interacial, etc...

Places like CJ.com are great. Definately join and browse their offerings. But before pimping a site under cj.com be sure to visit the site first and see if they have an affiliate program outside of CJ. If so, jump on it. CJ indirectly takes a cut of your earnings, so if you can cut the middle man out, more $$ for you.

How many people do you know that smoke pot that don't like nude girls? NONE!

Everyone that I know that smokes pot doesn't mind looking at nudity. You could probably make more money from a stoned person than a sober person.
