Can you patent an internet idea?
 

If you have an idea that is not in use on the internet. Can you patent or copyright it?

It seems like once someone does something different a whole herd will follow. Which doesn't seem fair to the guy who thought of it.

You can copyright it and as long as you have it registered, make a fortune off sueing others that copy it, and then retire. lol

I think it would have to be an actual business process, but I'm not sure.

how do i go about copyrighting a phrase I wish to use for my website/company? can anyone lead me in the proper direction?

Copyrights don't need to be registered officially, but they should be published in order to assure you the longest period of protection.

Patents... well... it really depends on what it is. Basically, it should be something pretty unique, and must be a process, system, device etc. rather than an idea, publication, form, etc. And if you want a patent, get a lawyer.

Yeah, I don't know if I can patent it or not. I haven't told anyone my idea. I think I will get a consultation with a lawyer.

I'm just in the process of getting 10k together to get it started. After that I may be able to secure some more financing.

I want to secure it because I know I will have a lot of followers if I don't. Funny, that know one has thought of this before. I thought I had the best idea in the world. Then I thought about it for a few more days. And made it even better. It's so simple, but yet, it took me 2 years to think of it.

No one doing it! LOL I will keep you guys posted. Hopefully, I will be opening the doors in a month or so. How simple are post it notes or paper clips? Yet, it made them millions! The internet still has a lot of good ideas to come.......
