Bush Justice Department: Adult webmasters are "dangerous predators" to children

In response to the Supreme Court decision, the Justice Department said the following:

"The department will continue to work to defend children from the dangerous predators who lurk in the dark shadows of the World Wide Web," he said in a statement.

Keep supporting Bush, sheep. :1orglaugh

This is from the ACLU, the group that is fighting for you right wingers to stay out of jail:

Ann Beeson of the American Civil Liberties Union, which was among those challenging the law, urged Attorney General John Ashhahahahaha to stop defending it.

"If he insists on going back to trial, we are confident that the lower court will again find that the law went too far," she said.

ACLU good, Bush bad. Get it?

fact:

there are dangerous predators trying to lure children on the web, and this forces all sorts of sting operations to catch these sick fucks.

right here in our little town a guy was caught recently trying to hookup with what he that was a 13 year old boy---luckily sheriff's dept. nailed him.

this is all the more reason why parents need to monitor their kids' activities on the web, and webmasters need to be proactive about keeping kids off adult sites.

but that is an issue seperate from COPA and the adult webmaster issue.

I hate to defend John Boy but He didnt say Adult webmasters. THere are monsters on the net and let him talk about it maybe it would wake parents the fuck up .

Yeah indeed. I'd support a law that was actually aimed at catching pedo's and protecting children from people who actively try to lure them.

However, I will not support a law that tries to throw every single scrap of content in the world as potentially harmful to minors.
Duh.

Don't these people realize that the only effect COPA would have is to shift all the porn to non-US servers? There would be just as much free porn on the net with COPA as there is now. You'd think that some of these people would use their energy to think up more effective solutions, like, for example, better filtering software.

Amen I am glad the court spoke about filtering also they spoke about a .kids domain.

Jedimaster 06-29-2004 05:33 PM

where are these "dark corners" on the internet???

pimplink 06-29-2004 05:40 PM

Porn on net is inevitable. It's part of the "net world". Parents should be responsible enough to monitor their kids activities while on line.

where are the asshat repubs in this thread to tell us Bush is right and we all need to go to jail for national security reasons? :1orglaugh

When I see the absolutely ridiculous laws the government proposes concerning the internet, something I know and understand very well, I begin to wonder what kind of decisions they are making about the stuff I don't understand so clearly. And thank God for the Supreme Court.

They were responding to the law against adult websites - they were talking about adult webmasters preying on kids.

They equate adult webmasters and child pornographers every chance they get - that is what the Bush admin and right wing media loves to do - treat legal adult sites and child abuse as equal.

Read the quote again and look at the context - they are talking about you.

Unfortunately some people on this board just don't get it.

They will blindly support the republicans no matter what.
