IP Address ? Need Help Please!
 

If I could search I would not ask because I am sure it has been answered before. My I.P. Address is showing up as a 169 or 168 number (I cant remember which) but all I know is that I am unable to get online or use a browser. How do I fix this! Thanks Guys!

Nah, one is al laptop and the other pc is connected to my cable modem and I have no router at this moment! Unfortunately!

Maybe you should use a proxy provided to you by your ISP?

Get a router and a wireless card for your laptop. Its so worth it. :thumbsup

How Do I repair It? What do I need to remove? Or do I need to remove anything at all?

Start -> Run -> Type "cmd" -> Hit ok -> type "IPCONFIG"

Do this on both system and post results here.

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Autoconfiguration IP Address. . . : 169.254.38.98
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . 255.255.0.0

That's the one that isn't working right?

Start -> Settings -> Network and Dial-up connections -> Right click on your conntection -> properties

Choose "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" -> Properties.


Enter everything exactely the same as it is on the working machine.

Just type over the settings from the windows in my last post, that should work fine.
