Hopefully you purchased a MiniDV camcorder. In which case you can connect via Firewire to your computer. You will, however, need software such as Vegas Video, Adobe Premier, Ulead Videostudio, etc. to capture the video.

If you only have those red and yellow RCQ connectors you are stuck buying a capture card and I feel sorry for you. Easy enough but who wants the extra step or having to install the damn card?

I didnt pay for it. I got the camcorder for free. :)

Idiot,

Dont go with the tv crap. Get a firewire cable. You most likely already have a firewire card in your puter. So youre done with 5 bucks.

Post your camcorder model.

doober 07-01-2004 05:52 PM

Unless it came with it, your gonna need to buy a i1394 Firewire cable to plug it from camera to PC. then all you need is to capture it via your favorite video software

if it has usb it probably has some software to import stuff to your computer.

But most probably its firewire: get yourself a cheap $30 firewire card.. plug it into your cam.. get yourself Premiere or some other
video editting software and simply import a stream!

yep, no real need for a capture card really.
Not sure why you would use it either unless you had to rip from a vhs or cable tv really.

Juicy, Hi8 is ...well... so last millenium type of technology.

No wonder it was free. I got two in a box gathering dust.

I thought you were asking before about where to buy miniDV tapes??

Is this a different cam??

:helpme

TweetyBird 07-01-2004 06:43 PM

it is either via firewire of USB 2 cables... and please please don't tell me you're using one of those useless 8mm cam :winkwink:

OzMan 07-01-2004 06:49 PM

I just looked at one of my old Sony Hi8's and it don't have even a usb jack.

Looks like you will need that video card

The jacks might be hidden behind one of those plastic things that you have to open. :2 cents:
