Figure this out win a T-Shirt!
Okay 3 biz men go to a Hotel and split the cost for the room! = $30.00, ea. pay $10.00. The manager realizes he overcharged them $5.00 because the romm was supposed to only be $25.00, so he gives $5.00 to the bellhop and tells him to give it back to the businessmen. On the way there he realizes $5.00 cannot be paid out evenly amongst 3 individuals so he puts $2.00 in his pocket and and gives each guy $1.00 back. Now if he gave each guy $1.00 back that means they were only out of pocket $9.00 each and the bellhop kept $2.00 that would mean only $29.00 is accounted for. What happened to the other dollar? Answer this for me and get this T-Shirt!http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/YaB...lies/dunce.gif

There is no other dollar.
|
no where, the dollar is still there if you add the total its just a play on numbers
|
too much to think about
|
Damn u used to know this one
Cant remember now |
There was a guy named Jay McDonald who stole that $1.
|
original cost = 30 = 10 + 10 + 10
real cost = 25 +2 (bellop) = 27 = 9 + 9 + 9 no other dollar |
each person paid $9 x 3 which equals $27. The room was $25 so there was an extra $2 which the bellboy has.
|
okay look at it....
3 Guys Paid - 10.00 10.00 10.00 = 30.00 One given back to each 9.00 9.00 9.00 = 27.00 bellhop keeps 2.00 = 2.00 Total Accounted Money = $29.00 where is the other dollar? I have tried to figure it out, but come up with 29.00 with this equation? WTF? Give me a logical answer aside from 25 + 5 = 30 and you win the shirt! |

you dont add $2 you minus $2
|
Room is $25
Bellboy takes $2 Each guy gets $1 ($3 total) 25 + 2 + 3 = 30 No dollar is missing. But I was not the first so... :feels-hot |
Here's the breakdown:
1. Before anything happens, Man A, Man B and Man C each have $10 in their pockets. The hotel has not yet rented a room, so it has no money. The bellhop just started work, so he doesn't have any money either. Man A: $10 Man B: $10 Man C: $10 Hotel: $0 Bellhop: $0 NET TOTAL = $30 2. Man A, Man B and Man C each pay $10 for a hotel room. They now have no money. The hotel has $30. The bellhop is still scratching himself in the corner. Man A: $0 Man B: $0 Man C: $0 Hotel: $30 Bellhop: $0 NET TOTAL = $30 3. The hotel refunds $5 total. The $30 room now only costs $25. The bellhop is sent to deliver the money to the three men, so he is carrying $5. Man A: $0 Man B: $0 Man C: $0 Hotel: $25 Bellhop: $5 NET TOTAL = $30 4. The bellhop gives each man $1 back and keeps $2. Man A: $1 Man B: $1 Man C: $1 Hotel: $25 Bellhop: $2 NET TOTAL = $30 |
There is no missing dollar.
The three people paid $27 total. The room was $25, and the tip was $2. The room plus the tip was $27, what they paid. |
the guys takes 2 dollars and puts them in his pocket
leaves 28 he gives everybody 1 dollar ( including himself ). .....so he has three now. does that answer it? |

The answer is: There is no other dollar.
The math isn?t wrong here, the instructions are wrong. Think of the problem this way: At the end of the day, each man has put in $9 towards the cost of the room: 3 x $9 = $27. The bellboy has kept $2 from what the men spent for himself: $27 - $2 = $25. The motel has collected $25. Or to take it from the other direction: The motel has $30 and gives $5 of that to the bellboy to return to the men: $30 - $5 = $25. The bellboy, not knowing how to split $5 equally decides to keep $2 for himself: $5 - $2 = $3. The men each end up with $1 each. Total it up: 3 x $1 + $2 + $25 = $30. About the best the bellhop could have done would be to give two men $1.67 and the last $1.66, which would be about as close to evenly dividing $5 he could have come to. The mistake in the instructions is when the riddle asks you to "add the $2 the bellboy kept" to the total the men spent. The bellboy took that money from the total so you would subtract it, not add it. Now, how many of you are slapping your foreheads right about now? |
all this math is fuckin my brain up:(
