I've been lucky, no black outs over here....saw that shit on the news though :(

You should wait until they stop doing it, unless you want to take the chance to shortcut your computer.

Thank god the summer so far in NY has been pretty tame so everyone isnt blasting their ACs. No blackout so far like last year, but we'll see what develops down the line.

pornJester 07-09-2004 06:36 PM

That sucks. I had satellite internet at one time and it ran like that. It was torture.

TiGrrPrr 07-09-2004 06:37 PM

It's from the fires in AZ APS and SRP are working with COX ISP which is voluntarily interrupting the internet.

FROM nousewhatsoever

Mojo Rizin 07-09-2004 06:50 PM

No blackouts here either..

paytonrain 07-09-2004 07:20 PM

No blackouts for me in Vegas and it's COX also.

I rarely ever lose connection though and being about 2 blocks from one of the main hubs that alot of the big companies use keeps my connection pretty fast too.

We had no problems in Northern Phoenix.

However, I'm a bit stunned at this. How in the world can a city the size of Phoenix have a power problem like this? Aren't there backup systems in place? There is a nuclear power plant forty miles from here - Isn't that enough to power the entire state?

Don't get me started on the gas problem we had earlier. How in the world can a single pipeline break and and suddenly all of Phoenix is out of gas? For weeks?

Illicit 07-09-2004 08:21 PM

blackouts are no problem for me :)

I'm glad my flight out of southbend to chicago was canceled tonight. At least I won't have to deal with the blackouts until Sunday :)

Mojo, no blackouts in Chandler? Where in Chandler are you? I'm at kyrene and chandler blvd. Hopefully they have it under control down there.

Get a small generator - a UPS draws power from the main grid, so even if you charge it at off peak times you're still adding to the problems...
