When will you guys learn? - Re: 2257

I've just been reading about all this new 2257 stuff & it's pretty clear what they are up to.

When something threatens your industry in an unreasonable way, why not get your SURFERS involved as well -- the very people who will ultimately be effected in the end by this.

The new 2257 laws could push most of the US based industry overseas.

How do you think US surfers would feel about this after you explained it to them?

Ask yourselves, who has access to more internet eyeballs than the adult entertinament industry?

Tala 07-18-2004 12:47 PM

Interesting thought. How and when would you let the surfer in on it?

goBigtime 07-18-2004 12:52 PM

How about, now?

Explain what the DOJ is up to, how it looks like they are trying to take away their rights to view adult materials by creating unrealistic filing requirements, and by jeopardizing the saftey of the performers (by making their real personal information available to "everyone")

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that if a performer knows his or her REAL information will be available to the public, that there will be A LOT less performers.

Which, to the Christian right, is undoubtedly A-OK.

Anyway.... you all really should do like "god" did and request the wisest and most literate of the bunch to write some things down to be officially conveyed to the public that is currently unaware that this is even going on.

I'm in agreement here. Shall we tack it on the splash page?

Atually, that might not be a bad idea. They'd definitely have to see it then.

I think I'm a go write something out. :)

the_wizz 07-18-2004 12:57 PM

Yea, something akin to what european software programmers have started doing regarding the patents over there.

I definately think some kind of write up or something that all adult wm's could put on their pages would be good....

"Industry comment has been invited in the proposed rule"

Tala 07-18-2004 01:21 PM

Okay, this is a VERY basic rough draft. If you like it, use it. If you want something worded differently, tell me what and where. Once we get this completed, We can pass it around to webmasters who might want to use it.

"Before you continue, the owner(s) of this website would like to warn you of a proposal that would seriously limit your personal freedoms as well as the personal freedoms of those of us who supply you with adult entertainment.

This proposal, fr25jn04-23, would put serious new restrictions on the 2257 laws that webmasters must abide by. This law prevents the use of minors as models in adult entertainment, and is also called the "Anti-child porn" law.

Reputable webmasters don't mind adhereing to the 2257 law as it stands right now. However, if this new proposal passes, most webmasters, including the free sites and tgp webmasters, are going to be forced into updating information so thoroughly that there would be no way to continue using much of the content that you currently see. As a matter of fact, most of your favorite sites could very well be pulled offline forever.

This new proposal, by demanding certain information about the models, could potentially put the models in danger by possibly violating another law - "The Privacy Act."

You can help stop this proposal from becoming law and thus keep your favorite websites online and active, as well as helping to protect the models! We encourage you to email [email protected] and voice your opinion before August 24, 2004. Each email sent is another step to preventing this proposal from becoming law. Protect your rights to enjoy adult entertainment. Send out that email now, and please inform friends to do so as well.

Thank you-

(Owner of site)"

If it sucks, tell me. Maybe someone else could write it or I could change stuff.

People have short attention spans - especially while searching for porn.

You might splash them with something like this to start:

Sure... I don't know about the statement made there. Might want to reword it to say something about the quantity/variety of adult material available instead (because of the "regardless of the country you live in..." part)

I'm open to suggestions for rewording changes....

Actually, what you've got there is excellent IMHO.

Got a full sized one, or is that it? :)

It's a close election season.

All that matters are VOTES.

And, after spending 4 years calling him "Asshahahahaha", and now announcing how you absolutely WON'T vote for Bush and WILL vote for Kerry.... Neither one needs to care about you!

If you want a politician's attention... You have to make them think you can be swayed back and forth... Or that you are considering not voting at all... or voting Green or (appropriately) Libertarian.

Why do you think Republicans ignore urban blacks or Democrats ignore Practicing Christians?? Once you let the politicians know they've won (or lost) your vote... they don't need to care what you say anymore.
This is a lesson the various Hispanic/Mexican/Cuban communities have learned... Play the politicians off each other and don't let them think they don't need to keep earning your vote every time.

Too bad California's two Senators are NOW-endorsed women. No chance getting them to help save the industry.
Maybe Gov. Arnold?? I'm sure he enjoys a nice titty now and then!

Babagirls 07-18-2004 02:12 PM

yea, push the money out of our country and overseas......not like america needs it or anything. :BangBang:
