well first of all you shouldnt be using godaddy, they are scammers. you will eventually lose your domain. just like they fucked so many people.
|
ok, but has anyone here had an email like this from godaddy? wtf does this mean?
|
Lol, use registerfly.com instead :2 cents:
|
That sucks, but you probably own a name with trademark infrigment :2 cents:
|
can you still transfer it out?
|
I have never had a problem with godaddy but they seem to be getting worse so I think i'm going to transfer them all to enom with the rest of my domains. Hey GoDaddy:321GFY
|
i can guarantee you it's not a trademark. it's a made up word that i made up, and if you type that word into google, my pages are what comes up.
i dont' have any content on the site, except a few banners. tons of links to adult sites (affiliates). it's a milf site. ive' got hundreds of pages, and they're well ranked on google and yahoo. wtf? |

why don't you just call the number and find out?
godaddy sucks when it comes to this kind of thing. In the future i suggest you use someone else. |
i called them before i posted here, and they said they're still on the "graveyard shift" and the dept that can tell me what this is about won't be around for 2 more hours.....

Do you spam?
if you do..someone is trying to find out who you really are.... Why the need for so much privacy? |
It probably means someone complained about you for something.
Maybe GoDaddy just wants you to respond to a complaint? |

Most likely you have a keyword somewhere (for example "Viagra") that is trademarked, and on that page with the word you're not selling that particular product. So they probably got a legal letter regarding it.
|
Use a fake whois and adult domains outside godaddy.Make up some company adress / PO box in russia/afghanistan/nigeria and nobody will bother you :2 cents:
Ev1 has cheaper prices on c/n/o domains anyway (they are a tucows reseller). |

i keep calling domains by proxy and the dude who can tell me what's up isn't there. the word viagra isn't in my keyword list or title tags, and i'm not doing adwords or overture with this site. you think pfizer would get upset about their word viagra appearing in a list of words on my adult site? thanks for your input. |

Domains by Proxy is owned by GoDaddy and is one of their services.Get real anonymity through a fake whois without paying anything. If anyone has a problem with you he can contact you than. They'll hand out your infos to some creepy lawyers for sure...
|
Call them up and ask WTF. :2 cents:
They charge $20 because someone asked who owns this domain? Wow... |
I've never faked any whois info BTW, nor tried to hide it. No biggy.
You can lose your domain for faking the info. too, so whats the real best answer? |

You fulfilled your duty by contacting them, check out your agreement, call back and get the guys name you talked to. When they cancel the service sue them because you did contact them within 48 hours.

LOL |
If he is able to steal your domain it shouldn't be too much effort to fake a contract or find a registrar outside the US who is willing to cooperate with him and reject any domain claims.
Anyway, this is going way too theoretic and I don't have a clue how somebody should be able to hijack your registrar locked domains without lots of effort (faked passport, contracts etc.). |

ok, now i found 'viagra" in some keyword tags on those pages, too.
in fact, i found 'viagra' about 200 times (once per page) on that domain. some in keyword tags, some in text on the page. never 'viagra' 100 times in a row, just once per page -- but there are a lot of pages. the dude at domains by proxy still hasn't called back or emailed back, i keep callin' him. you think it's a pfizer c&d? yrs, vi |
Yeah maybe it's them, you have any other trademarked names on your site?
Remembers me of the time some years ago where nintendo sued domain owners who had any pokemon content which they weren't allowed to use.Or timewarner who sued online shops which sold unlicensed matrix stuff. If they get your infos and you're lucky you just have to sign an agreement that you'll never use the name viagra on your homepage again. If you're unlucky - settlement (few hundret up to thousands of dollars) or you'll get into a lawsuite. But normally just an agreement, good luck mate! |
