We live in Gresham, a few miles from Portland, but basically the same thing.

I don't know rent things, but tons of apt's, townhouses, houses for rent around here.

Mabey check out, www.oregonlive.com and look in the classifieds.

Cable modem (comcast) everywhere here, also dsl, but a bit slower..

If you need any help, let me know.

Todd

Thought you said Portland sucks.... lol

I use to live in Beaverton which is just outside of Portland. Not bad but the traffic was starting to get heavy before I left 3 years ago. I can only imagine what it is now.

I'm not much of a city dweller anymore but I really enjoyed visiting Portland and loved the fact it was so close to MT.HOOD ..

the surrounding little towns seem pretty nice .

boneprone 08-03-2004 04:34 PM

I love Portland.

you just have to be in the right area.

Nothing beats it. Hanging in the pearl and downtown in the evenings is the best.

About 6 weeks ago we came very very close to biying a condo in the pearl to rent out. Real damn close.

It would be perfect for shoots as well. Lots of light, and when you look out the HUGE windows you see the soon to be very famous "Go By Street Car" sign.

I loved it.

But the rental market is getting soft for investment purposes. And the buyer market is really bubbled up at the moment. I told my wife about the renting it out for shoots idea but she didnt really like that. Not sure how steady the $$ in that would be. It would have to be near 2k a month coming in from that, and truthfully i dont see that.

There were two we were looking at there, bioth small Studios, but nice. Both close to 300k. Just for a fucking studio.

But they sure were nice. Maybe in the winter Ill pull the trigger and get one. But for now we have changed our plans to buiying some Homes in upcoming SE portland areas and renting em out.

we checked out some 500k and over condos in the same building and holy fuck. They were fuckign nice. Brand new and never lived in.

There are also some 2-3 year old properties in the pearl for much less $$.

And up the street there are some killer lofts for under 300k.

Almost pulled the trigger on one of them as well.

boneprone 08-03-2004 04:40 PM

If I could only stop gambling, I would have bought up a half a dozen of these things by now.

Fuck it kills me just to think about it.

boneprone 08-03-2004 04:42 PM

Come move to Portland.

You'll like it.

The rental market varries a lot and there is something for everyone.

Live in Portland though. Not Beaverton, Gresham, Tigard or anywhere outside of Portland.

Live in Portland.

Like SE or SW or NW.. Its fucking great and close to everything.

You dont even need a car really if you live close to downtown.

TheMob 08-03-2004 04:42 PM

I'd love to live at the Beach

Not in the Northwest you wouldnt.

Not all year around.

Hell, drive to the beach for the weekend when you have the desire.

We'll rent out a beach house for a week out of the year and by the end of the week im always ready to get back home.

What building??

You in Portland now?

Im in the pearl almost every week at night. The past 7 days alone it think we've been down there 4 of the 7 days for dinner.
Dinner, and just going out with friends, and the wife's frineds.

Its a small area, im sure we've crossed paths or youve seen my car parked in front of your building.
