How to stop Snail mail spam?

I've been in my house for a little over a month and the previous owner has finally stopped receiving mail here.

However I still receive crap in the mail like for things like pool supplies, Shell cards, auto insurance, grocery store discounts, etc.

I do not want this stuff.

Is there any way to stop it short of calling up the numbers on the ads and asking them to remove me?

Thanks for helping a first time home owner :)

Mailman don't give a crap they'll still stick the mail in the mailbox. They're obligated to do it.

Call your post office and ask to speak to the deliver supervisor. Tell them you do not want any BBM (Bulk Business Mail). Your letter carrier will then put a colored marker in your mail slot for your letters and flats alerting them to discard any bulk business mail that you would have normally received. This does not apply to first class mail (bills and letters) and second class mail (magazines, tv guide, etc); only mail labeld as third class bulk mail.

Mike B

*delivery supervisor (not deliver supervisor)

Just go to the post office and sign a paper that tells them you don't want bulk mail.
