Another one bites the dust (AVS)

Someone just forwarded this to me. Am sorry to see this happen (really), the people there seemed like good guys.

Dear SitePass webmasters,

in 2002, SitePass began a run in the adult online industry by forming a cohesive business relationship with you. Since its genesis, we have aspired to build SitePass into a successful, profitable venture that all of us, webmasters included, could reap the benefits of its continual financial fruition. I do not have to tell you that the adult online atmosphere has changed dramatically, even over the course of just a couple of years. Everything from Visa regulations on processing transactions to the latest anticipated 2257 changes have created an environment that we must adapt to in order to continue to prosper and bring webmasters a wide range of programs. That being said, it is to my
displeasure that I must inform all of our webmasters that as of
September 1st, 2004, SitePass will be closing down for good.

This was no easy or fly by night decision on our part. We took countless measures to ensure that the program would remain strong in the future and held countless meetings examining all potential business scenarios.

Unfortunately, in the end, SitePass and its business associates,
including our legal staff, felt the best measure to take would be to
terminate the program.

We understand that this comes as a surprise to you. We hope that by giving you a month in warning, you will have sufficient time to make any necessary changes to your sites. Our staff, as always, will be around to assist you with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Again, we deeply regret any inconvenience that this may cause any of you. I assure you once again, we do not make decisions like this without considering our priceless webmasters that have supported us over the years. We hope that you remain a supporter of our business models, as we look forward to continuing a healthy business relationship with all of you.

KRL knows the score..

Well at least they had the decency to inform the webmasters in advance, that seems to be a lot to ask for in this business :(

mardigras 08-06-2004 05:17 AM

A month's advance notice is certainly respectable in this biz. Good luck to them and the webmasters who have links to change.

RicardoB 08-06-2004 07:20 AM

Damn just when I thought AVS was settling down again :(

BVF 08-06-2004 07:50 AM
