dawn of the dead vs 28 days later
half way through dawn of the dead, and i have to say it doesn't even compare to 28 days later. the weak background music alone makes it seriously sub-par to 28...
what do you think? |
The first 1/2 of 28 days later was good. The 2nd 1/2 just fell apart.
Could have been better. |
Dawn of the Dead is a new release, or old movie?
|
there is an old dawn of the dead and remake.... 28 days later was way better tho... dawn of the dead added all that sex n shit to appeal... but it was basically a bullshit movie
|
28 days was better but the ending(s) suck big time.
|
28 days later was pretty good in the start and went downhill all the way
havent seen DOD yet - not sure if want to the original is so classic |
the original dotd is excellent..the new version just plain sucks except for the first 2 minutes

I can't watch 28 Days it freaks me out!!

I prefered Dawn of the Dead, not much action in 28, the military stuff at the end was really lame too.
|
28 days later was a horrible movie.. boring and stupid

Havnt seen Dawn of the Dead yet.. |
28 days later was AWESOME.
When I saw Dawn of the Dead in the theatres, with my girlfriend, well, lets just say it wasnt good enough to keep my attention for more than 5 minutes at a time. |
i have yet to check the Dawn of the Dead, so far i give it 7/10 for 28 Days later, the concept was terrifying but the end part is lame. just me :2 cents:
|
DOTD 2004 had way to many characters to devlopment them and give them depth. I thought 28DL was decent in every respect.
Of course, hard to compare them to the Romero's original DOTD it's just a masterpiece. |
aww i don't like dawn of the dead that much i find it kinda boring
|
The original was AWESOME i saw it in theaters when i was 13...i remember my mother giving the theater manager a hard time because they did not want to let me in,...my mom ROCKED!:thumbsup
The new one was o.k.....just gotta love ZOMBIE BABIES! 28 days started great...but DID fade a bit towards the end... |
I liked the DOD remake and considered it one of the most suspenseful flicks i have seen in a while . It definitely did not do a blow-it hollywood move to make a happy ending which i appreciated as well.

I <3 Zombie movies!
Dawn of the Dead (1978) - My favorite movie of all time! I can watch it over and over, again. It never gets old. Dawn of the Dead (2004) - It was decent. Not that bad. The zombie baby was fucking retarted! I love the "real" ending. Instead of ending shit on a happy note. 28 Days Later - I love this movie! I love the score! I think this movie was great. It really wasn't so much a zombie movie. Since, the people were infected with rage. They didn't eat their victims. They just killed them. I think the ending is decent. But, they do end it on a happy note. Hopefully, the next one is just as good. |
This RARELY happen but I really don't know what you are talking about
|
I thought 28 days was waayyy over hyped I didn't like it that much
|
ummm the first time I saw 28 days later I didnt like it, then when I watched it again it was better
|
I think the new DOTD is fucking funny, I want to see the original but its pretty difficult to get at videostores here.
28 days later was very realistic, I also found it pretty funny at some points |

I love zombie movies, but was not entirely satisfied with either flick. 28 days had a better creepy vibe...but yeah, a shitty ending. The first dotd was really pretty cheesy, but that's why most people loved it...bad humor, lot's of zombie gore...and i think the remake tries to follow in that tradition...but the cheesy humor is updated for the modern audience. They knew if they made it too campy, it would only please the fans (but the real fans aren't going to be happy no matter what you do)...so all-in-all, I prefer dotd...because who really wants to take a zombie movie seriously? just make it scary.
|
I haven't seen DotD, but I love 28 Days Later, with both endings! :) I thought it got better towards the end, not worse. How odd... I found it more a thinky movie than a scary movie, about the possibilities of outbreak and the resulting apocalypse. Oh well.
I even downloaded some of the songs from the movie. They're about 10 minutes long each, but they really set the mood. :) Godspeed You Black Emporer is the band. |
BOTH movies BLOW
i mean , they suck hardcore... but 28 days later wins the prize because i actually expected that one to be good |
im an oldie lover.
ive gone weeks without being able to watch a colorized horror movie. im buried in Roger Corman right now, loving the old black and white quickies with comedy this week. Now: Bucket of Blood (1959) :) |
I liked both 28 days and DOTD 2004. I haven't seen the orignal DOTD but if it's anything like either Day of the Dead or Night of the Living Dead than I won't like it at all.

Dawn of the Dead is a great horror movie. But it came right out of the campy-horror tradition of the 50's. You know what I mean, you're either laughing out loud or going "eeeeww". Stephen King's Creepshow movie was also in this sub-genre.
By contrast, 28 days is a "modern" movie, meaning its a product of a more self-conscious, intentionally political kind of filmmaking. In other words, there's a point. At the end of Dawn of the Dead, most people feel queasy and exhilirated -- like after a rollercoaster. At the end of 28 days, you walk out of the movie theatre thinking why is it so easy for human beings to see each other as monsters? j- |
I really enjoyed watching 28 days. I still haven't seen the remake of Dawn of the Dead.
|
I've got DOTD 2004 DVD loaded up, and I'm about to watch it..
I hope to hell it's better than 28 Days later, cause that was a true piece of shit. |
DOTD for sure! MUTCH better than 28 days later. I just love Romero:winkwink:
|
The first half of 28 Days Later can't be beat.
The olympic runner speed zombies in the new Dawn of the Dead was pretty weird. |

i'm soo uncultured - i havn't sceen either
|
Both have very good moments. It comes down to if you want to see zombies or not.
|
28 days later had some amazing scenes ...and then a few not so amazing. I wish I hadn't seen the alternate ending, though.
And Director Danny Boyle is brilliant. He made Ewan McGregor an international star in Trainspotting. His directing of Cillian Murphy in 28 days later is once again brilliant. I am curious though why a few of the movie sites list Noah Huntley as the star of the movie. Was he even in the movie? |

Bucket of Blood is one of my favorites. Dick Miller was just so damn good in that movie. I met him at a Fangoria Weekend Of Horrors convention and told him what I fan I am of that performance and he said it was one of the best times he'd had and one of his personal favorites as well, but his favorite was as Mr. Futterman in the Gremlins movies (this was right around the time Gremlins 2 was coming out). |
...and speaking of Roger Corman, Fletch, I recomend this bad boy
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...v=glance&s=dvd Kickass Corman collection with Bucket Of Blood, WASP Woman, Little Shop Of Horrors and The Terror. Four 4 movies on 2 DVDs and they all 4 rock... I also recently got the Roger Corman Collection version of Deathrace 2000 |
Dawn of the Dead, the roof scene...

Well, Boyle was also pissed that everyone was comparing his film with other zombie movies.. The people are infected, they are not dead. Once you're infected you don't want to eat flesh you just want to fucking kill everyone. |

I think you need a vacation. I don't remember seeing you this grumpy before. Who's been crapping in your cornflakes lately? |
28 days was OK but there weren't enough scenes of zombies eating people to make me happy. That's what I loved about the Romero flicks and Fulci's 'Zombie'.
|
i enjoyed dawn of dead way more. both have awsome startings!
