12clicks, should I or shouldn't I? (pic)
If I remember correctly from past threads here and there, you're pretty knowledgeable about wines.
1986 Opus One http://www.onlymovies.com/_img/board/86opus.jpg Been saving it for the proper time/age. But you know how it is. I literally can not walk past it without the feeling that it's taunting me. And my craving for it is just getting worst. Figured i'd ask since I haven't researched on the proper age for this particular year. Should I let it age still, or drink? |
good wine :thumbsup
not that great/worth to age, i'd crack it open :2 cents: |
go drink it !:winkwink:

I prefer grape Kool-Aid :)
|
open the bottle, let it sit open for 2 hours, and then drink it.

yeah, Opus is an odd wine. some people like it some don't. its a very subjective wine. I happen to like it and I don't think an 86 will get any better than it already is today so drink up.
That said, if its your best bottle, don't drink it sitting in front of your computer (thats what australian swill is for) grab a girl or a good friend and share it so you have a good memory to go with it. If it ain't your best bottle, who gives a fuck what I think! Enjoy.:thumbsup |
My favorite wine comes from my still in the barn.
OOPS I was not supposed to say that., I meant from a local winery. |

I don't really like wine ... no matter how expensive it is I still think it tastes like shit.
It's one of the most complex aliment in the world and I guess I'm just not at that level yet :) |

Well said and exactly my thoughts. Well, there is a celebratory occasion going on this evening which is why I was thinking about popping it open. Other then the serious craving i'm having for it, I decided to pop open up one of my alternatives and found a quiet corner to enjoy it. To be honest, i really wasn't in the mood to share my Opus. One of my alternatives, a bottle of 1994 Stags Leap Cab has served me well tonight. Cheers |

I never use to like wine for the longest time when I was younger. But since i've developed a taste for it years ago, every other type alcohol to me taste like shit now. Everything from beer, hard alcohol, etc. It just does not taste as good to me anymore...it simply doesn't satisfy. I absolutely cannot live without a decent bottle of red. Nothing else even compares. I don't know what it is about it. To be honest, I almost wish I didn't care for it. Cause now i've started looking into learning more about it in my free time and I started experimenting between different regions, grapes, flavors and understanding the process. But unfortunately, wine can become a very expensive hobby. It was so much easier when a simple trip to the store for 6 pack of beer would do for the evening. :( |
