Humans are communal creatures, which by definition requires most of us to be content with the status quo and naturally suspicious of change. It is therefore inevitable that the vast majority of people are imitators and not innovators.

In any case, what is the special virtue in innovation? There is little that is truly new and if you can turn a profit by adding a wrinkle to what someone else is already doing, why not?
