Anyway, when that last hurricane was around florida, the weather around here was awesome! It was in the 70s and we drove to Mississippi to go to the beach . . Lots of fun. |

my family comes from and is rooted down in grand isle and the entire southern louisiana basin. to homie above: when you lose somsone to a storm then tell me you aint scared of them hahaha. i grew up playing around boats that were moved by Hurricane Betsy, these boats were moved 100s of feet and were huge liners. They left them there as memory. Respest the storm, the season changer. edit: changed betty to betsy :glugglug |

i understand the romance of the storm as well, growing up these were seasonal. Betsy is still one of the baddest to ever hit. When all of the damage in the USA was totaled, it came to more than $1 billion in 1965 dollars, making Betsy the USA's first billion dollar hurricane. If you factor in inflation and put Betsy's cost into Year 2000 dollars, it cost $8.4 billion, which ties it for third in the list of the nation's most expensive hurricanes. http://www.usatoday.com/weather/reso...ne-betsy_x.htm :glugglug |
yeah my grandma used to tell us stories about when betsy hit.. Morgan City is like a mini new orleans in structure (like most of the little towns down there), so it's got that whole fish bowl thing going on.. Sucks like hell when bad storms hit, all hell breaks loose.

i witnessed some really bad shit though. Have seen families literally watch their house slip away into water. In fact, I was part of a volunter program that was trying to save grand isle "beaches" if you call it that, but it failed. now there is only big rocks and barriers, no beach left. its eroding away fast. family is still there though. the politicians are my blood, damn republican rednecks. :glugglug |
okay too much fletch history, time for beer and weed.
cheers folks. toss em back and light em up man. the night is on its way, if youre gonna do it, do it right. drink up folks :glugglug |
