Florida Curfews

Getting tired of the curfew bs here. 10PM to 6AM if you're on the streets you're subject to arrest. Never seen so many cops everywhere.

I heard on the news here that there are a bunch of assholes out there in Flordia, one guy took out a firearm and shot the lock off of an ice freezer at a gas station, reports of lootings, etc.

Is it really that bad there? If so then I guess a curfew is necessary.

Spunky 09-08-2004 07:40 PM

It's a fucking shame that people lose everything and some fucking weasel punks are there to scavenge over what remaining belongings are left...I would shoot the fuckers

Drake 09-08-2004 07:42 PM

How long has this curfew been in place?

Yeh, its pretty bad because so many areas are still without power so its totally pitch black. Mostly they're worried about businesses and office buildings being looted and that has happened already.

I'm sleeping in my office bed tonight, so I'm stuck in here till 6AM now. Felt like going for a coffee and just realized I can't.

Peaches 09-08-2004 07:42 PM

We kinda have curfews - everything closes by 8 PM :winkwink:

What's the power situation there? I know Melissa with Azure said she's not even scheduled to be back up until late Friday night :(

Office has power, water is ok, TV, AC, phones and DSL now.

Home has nothing except water which is safe to drink. No phone service, no cable, no DSL, no power for 5 days now.

Man you gotta plan for this shit. I have a little one-cup coffee maker that I take everywhere with me, wouldn't want to be stuck in some hotel room (or office) with no coffee. And during the day you have to hit your house or any open convenience store for food and munchies man.

How the hell you gonna have a blackout with no munchies??? :glugglug

Dang :( At least you have your office to hang out at. Do you worry about someone looting your home or are the police enough of a presence to take care of that? I know when my power goes out the guard gates automatically open so the residents aren't stuck in or out. That always makes me nervous even here in the woods. And I would guess most alarm backup batteries are dead now :(

Hope you get power soon!!!!!!!

Really, your gates open?? Damn. When the power goes out here my gates not only stay closed but a backup generator kicks in which in turn triggers 24 automatic machinegun turrets to raise up out of the security wall at key points. Anthying moves gets it.

I've got 27 looters heads stuffed and mounted on my den wall.

LOL!!

There may be a battery there that kicks in for half an hour or so, but every time I've come home and I see all the gates open, I know the power's out :(

Sadly, only a few of the police cars have passes cards. I had to let one in one morning about 2AM. I hope it wasn't a REAL emergency......though it came in handy when my son totaled my car a few months later and I reminded the guy when I asked him not to give the kid a ticket :thumbsup

There was a house on fire about a year ago and I remember watching people having to wave their passes in front of the control panel to get the fire trucks in.

We stopped having a guard 24/7 about 2 years ago and I guess someone's going to have to die before they realize it's worth the $24K a year to man the booth at nights.

I live in Lake Worth, i have seen not such bullshit as this, went out last night to boynton beach at 8:30 pm to get some dinner at langhorns, they would not serve us because of the curfew.

for the past 2 nights, me and my girlfreind have had to drive to fort lauderdale to eat dinner.

Finally most of the traffic lights are working around here now

Actually we have a coffee maker, but I threw the milk away earlier and I don't like drinking it black.

We have 2 soda machines and a full snack machine so I just had my munchies.

Yep, all ages. Its basically martial law from 10P to 6A. And its being enforced. You go to jail if you're on the streets. National guard is out in force as well in their humvees cruising around.

That really sucks!! You'll get your shit back up in time for Ivan to knock it back out of whack again!! Most of the people in my neighborhood are just leaving their houses boarded up. Stop the insanity I say!!

well our power came on this morring, but me and a friend decided to walk around a bit last night when we had no power.. we ended up walking up past the ocean deck in Daytona Beach and then back down A1A.. damn that was the darkest I ever saw this area.

The curfew kinda sucks was 11pm here until 6am.. but I can kinda understand it as there are so many open buildings and as dark as it was.. could have been very easy to break in places.

Stallion 09-08-2004 08:17 PM

Luckily no curfews here yet, just south of Tampa. But from the looks of this track and if it stays on it. We will probably have some after Ivan

I finally got powerlink back today, the worst was not having broadband access, our electric came back on at 9:30 pm last night. The power went out sat 9:30 am, it's amazing how quickly the power goes here out here, this is 8 hours before the hurricane hit!

If your looking to dine out, head out to fort lauderdale, there is plenty of places to eat, shop and get gas without the droves of people and lines.

Finding charcoal, ice and water 2-3 days after the hurricane hit was almost impossible. Im prepared for Ivan, a generator is something ill be buying this week, along with PLENTY of gas.

Yeah, it's good to set up a little emergency stash at places where you might be stuck during one of these events. Gotta have the big mega bag of coffee whitener, that shit has a shelf life of like 22,000 years. :D

And doritos.
a small microwave
microwave popcorn
booze (if no mix, put it in the coffee) :thumbsup

you know, the ESSENTIALS.

Yep totally agree!

When are these curfews suppose to end btw?
I think this is the first time WPB has had a curfew in 35 years.

From driving around today, it seems things are getting back to normal, traffic lights working, although the gas stations are a bloody mess, the lines are getting down to about 20 cars deep now.
