anyone here runs a video site? is it the same as running pic sites? or harder? does it cost more bandwdith?

well, I have a webmaster service so I can't give you the best answer. But I do know I had someone hotlink to a folder of video clips (100mb) and after about 160 uniques the whole server went down and my bandwidth went through the roof http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/frown.gif

Of course the BW will fly out the window Whoreans. How can you compare 1.2 mb or larger movies to 30-200k pics? The surfer has to let the whole movie download usually to see if it even interests them.

When you encode the movies as small streams you'll find they're around the same size as a small gallery of pictures. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/wink.gif

The badwidth will kill you. That is if you run a traditional movies site...featuring a couple clips around 3mb, and host it on your own server.

Even wonder why every movie site hosts their movies on Terra?

It's because for the amount of money they make on these 100k sites...they wouldnt even be able to cover their bandwidth.
