My Truck

is still in the shop 5 weeks later..(it was crashed the day after hurricane Charley)

I just got a call from the insurance man saying he thinks it will be done end of next week.. He added they ran into more damage and the cost of repairs went up $2.5k bringing it to a total of about $10k that they have to pay...
good thing it's not me paying

can you believe this is $10k in damage?

The tire tells it all. The way its buckled inwards...mucho underbody damage. I wouldn't think $10k worth but I'm not a mechanic.

well the tire looks worse than it was, mostly bent a-arms and suspension and so on, but the frame was ok.. It's the cab which is buckeled up pretty good .. Here it is from another angle

Is the frame damaged?

Vitasoy 09-15-2004 05:46 PM

10K? damn, most of it would be labor though.

chri$tian 09-15-2004 05:47 PM

Frame bent = $$$$'s
Axel bent = $$$$'s

The door was probably only $800 of that repair...

hyper 09-15-2004 06:01 PM

your looking at replacing pillars plus unibody damage. that shit has to be put back within millimeters of factory specs.. so 10k is about right.

silent moan 09-15-2004 06:07 PM

must be thankful you'll not gonna shoulder the expenses

Spunky 09-15-2004 06:11 PM

Shitty..I usually wind up selling them after they are fixed if they are damaged that bad..:(

BrainDead 09-15-2004 06:12 PM

yeah! you have to be thankful for not shouldering the expenses, coz if you do it's a real pain in the ass! ayt?!:disgust

I can see 10k in that. I hit a deer a few years ago in a 96 dodge ram. Cost about 4k to get it fixed and it never cracked the windshield. Got the bumper. right fender, and various items up front

shermo 09-15-2004 07:19 PM

I had my Avalanche in an accident last year and the damages went into the 15K range....Hell... It looked less damaged than yours! Good luck with it :)

Rankings 09-15-2004 07:28 PM

damn, Charley got you man

pornguy 09-15-2004 07:29 PM

I hate to say this, but I would look into getting rid of it.

Bent farme= No Good

reynold 09-15-2004 08:27 PM

John_Doe 09-15-2004 08:37 PM

Someone's mad...

The truck went on to live again btw.. $10k was not even enough.. the dumb fuck insurance ended up paying $16k in all.

They should of totaled it but didnt, I drove it several more years and sold it for something like $9k if I recall..

Toyota = good investment not so good for insurance companies though... lol

Rochard 05-14-2019 07:38 PM

I had no idea you had a truck or that it had problems. Post a picture of the truck and tell me what happened.

This topic is 10 years old.. I had a 03 Tacoma in 04 that got T-Boned the day after a hurricane. It was 1 of the 4 door ones and a big ass 1979 Ford van slammed right into the side of the cab. I was kinda amazed the insurance company repaired it TBH.. With that said I never had a single problem with the truck the entire time I owned it. Think the only thing I ever had to fix was replaced a battery and did the front brakes.
