How much do you budget for Christmas?

I told someone we budget about $2000.00 for Christmas and he nearly fell off his chair.

For 2 kids, about another 10 people to buy for, and our Christmas booze I think $2000 is pretty much right on the mark.

Christ, with the price of things now, I think that's cheap even.

How much do YOU spend on Christmas?

okny 09-22-2004 08:59 AM

About the same, depending on how i feel.

eroswebmaster 09-22-2004 08:59 AM

around $100K

Manowar 09-22-2004 09:00 AM

usually about $1500 for presents and stuff for family, no children here so its expected.

Groove 09-22-2004 09:01 AM

:2 cents: But I keep going into deficit :(

loverboy 09-22-2004 09:02 AM

Tala 09-22-2004 09:05 AM

Depends on how much I have available to spend. It's usually not much at all.

Jakke PNG 09-22-2004 09:06 AM

$50 less than I get.

benc 09-22-2004 09:06 AM

about $200

Dwreck 09-22-2004 09:07 AM

$100 per family member. It cost so much together beacuse well all live so far apart.

Damn Derek, with that hillbilly family of yours, what does that run you? $3000-$4000 for your immediate family? :winkwink:

Peaches 09-22-2004 09:14 AM

I don't budget - I buy crap all year long if I see something I think someone might like. Even little things. Then I wrap it up for Christmas :) My Mom does the same thing and as a result, there are 100's of presents under the tree every year for about 10 people. :1orglaugh

Rankings 09-22-2004 09:17 AM

about 1 grand

strobi 09-22-2004 09:17 AM

I don't budget Christmas. But I don't spend that mutch at all... like 500$ or so.

My grandmother and both of my godmothers used to do that. There would be bunches of presents and a huge, full stocking for everyone.

Part of the fun, she told me, was remembering what she had gotten for others when they opened the gifts. It was almost always a surprise for her too. :1orglaugh

Oh yeah, our stockings are literally overflowing! There are several of us who buy stocking stuff :)

And the remembering of the gifts: One year my SIL opened something from my Mom and while she was very gracious, it was obviously something that she would never use.....my Mom looked over "Oops! That's not yours, hold on a minute" Runs downstairs and gets the REAL gift :1orglaugh

Right now I already have 4 large bags FILLED with stuff ready to wrap :)

wdsguy 09-22-2004 09:28 AM

I budget about 500 to 1 grand

:(

MandyBlake 09-22-2004 09:31 AM

We don't budget anything for Xmas either.
When the time comes, we go shopping and spend what we spend.
I do agree that it is smart to save throughout the year for it though. Then it's not as big of a shock to the pockets.

Between my wife and 3 kids, probably about $2500-$3000. Then another $600 for the rest of my family.
