How long does a bank/wire transfer take?

I've never had to do one before. How long do they usually take and what information do you have to provide?

Edit: What info does the recipient have to provide?

15 days international, within a few days if in the same country .

ztik 09-29-2004 09:14 AM

If its in the usa then 1-2 minutes. To other countries 1-4 days.

ztik 09-29-2004 09:15 AM

All you need is routing number(or swift), name on account(not required), and account number

They tell you 24hrs in the USA and Canada, but its usually there faster. If its a lot longer its probabaly someone pulling your chain:2 cents:

International wire transfers take up to 7 business days. :)

Lucy 09-29-2004 09:21 AM

international transfers usually 2-3 days...
the company needs you provide with their bank info....:thumbsup

I think the correct answer is that it depends how long the piece of string is. My wires from Verotel (Netherlands) arrive in about 12 hours, and I'm in Australia.

It depends upon several things actually. Some transfers require an intermediary or pass-through bank, making two stops along the transfer.

Banks also have different cut off times for wires to be in daily in order to get them out same day.

It could credit as fast as an hour or as long as a day or two depending on the banks. If it takes longer than that, get a new bank.

And the more information about the recipient that you provide the faster the transfer will go through, especially with larger transfers.

This means USA banks people, I've NEVER had a wire come in the same day.

It usually gets credited about 2 days later.

Thats with:

Bank of America
Fleet
CharterONE
Washington Mutual

takes 3-4 days from western Europe to the US for me

Dagwolf 09-29-2004 10:26 AM

So what we're all saying is, 2-37 days... :( Wow.

Fortunately the UK and Canada have pretty close ties... maybe it won't be abnormally long.

SlutFinder 09-29-2004 10:27 AM

UK to canada shoud be 4-5 days depending on the bank, but if you pay the uk bank a small charge they can do it for the next working day
